A glue question

hmm... felt and glue aren't a nice combo lol... I'd say probably hot glue gun would work... maybe a permanent liquid glue might work but I know tape and glue dots don't work on felt LOL

Thank you! I was thinking a hot glue gun, then I speculated on glue dots. Glad that I asked and now know that they don't work on felt. :-)

I would suggest a spray adhesive I think which would keep the delicate angel hair paper intact and you wouldn't be able to see it. In the UK you can buy a product called Spray Mount from craft shops it's made by 3M or you can get similar alternatives

I checked - it's an UHU adhesive spray and among other things it's meant for felt. I had forgotten I had it. So glad I asked you guys. :-)

The thing I love best about SSD is that there is always someone to ask a question to and always someone who is doing something exciting that I want to see the results of! Can't wait to see what you make :)

Yes, this is why I love SSD as well. If I ask a question, people are wiling to answer it and help. Sometimes people ask questions that I know the answer for, so I can help others from time to time. It's so great to have a place where one can share one's hobby with people who are interested.

Two pictures to show my progress. Talk about heads in a basket.

Ahem, sixty? I hope. You might have noticed my minimalist tendencies from some previous projects. *snorts*

And thanks!

So! Experience shows that for gluing felt + felt together, it's best to use a hot glue gun. For gluing the angel hair paper to felt the glue spray works great.

Here are some low-quality pics of the result:

Thankieee. Gee I noticed how dirty my nail is in the picture. I assure you that's from the creative work. O_o

Thanks, Heather. :-) If it wasn't for this thread I might not have figured out the right glues at all - or at least it would take me much, much longer. Thank you, guys.

Awwww I LOVE those!! What are you doing with them, selling them?

Nope, I almost never sell stuff (the only exception so far was when I produced way too much). I will give them out to friends. Oh and thanks - praise coming from you is especially precious, you are kinda my crafts role model, hehe.

But I was thinking that if the people from the Slovak Stand at International Bazar (our biggest X-mas charity event here) are interested, I might do more and sell them next year.

Well, normally you can get in crafts shops here, but this year they didn't have gold or silver (they had like 15 colours, but no gold or silver). So I ordered from eBay. It was a UK seller, but I'm sure you can find someone closer to you. If not, I can give you the link, no prob.

It was really challenging to find it, since I had no idea about its name. I used to call it "that paper that kinda looks like very thinly spun fabric, like it was made from pressed gold kinda sewing thread". Took some time to google the right name. :-)
