3 Weeks...

OMG! I'm FINALLY home after 3 horrible long weeks in the hospital!!

I wound up being transferred into a hospital in the city for the last week and a half because the experts were there and nobody here knew what to do with me. I've been feeling really well since about Friday but they wanted to keep me to make sure that I was indeed healing properly.

Today the doctor walked in and asked if I wanted to go home...of COURSE I said yes (when they dashed my hopes on Friday I cried for at least an hour, lol).

It was QUITE the ordeal and I must say that I won't be voluntarily going in for surgery again anytime soon, lol.

Just a recap, lol...I had surgery to remove my gallbladder on April 29, was home on April 30...had what felt like a gallbladder attack on May 6 and Trev rushed me into the ER - they took me straight in and got me morphine (2 doses before it "took"), did tests and stuff, then admitted me. I stayed on morphine and in pain until May 9 when I was transferred into the city to have a drain put in to drain the bile that was leaking into my abdominal cavity. This was supposed to help my body heal itself and I immediately started to feel better, Sunday was a GREAT day...but Sunday night I was in extreme pain again and getting higher and higher doses of morphine. This lasted a few days and they finally transferred me to the city on May 15 to have a scope put down my throat and a stent put in my liver (I think? somewhere like that, lol). I was SUPPOSED to go back to Westlock hospital but the doctor in the city looked at me and decided I wasn't going back there and admitted me there. After I got the stent in the pain wasn't as bad BUT I was really sick and had fevers and stuff - they were really worried about infection and were thinking that I'd have to go back under for them to fix the stent. Thankfully the fever broke after a couple days and I was able to not go back under. Within a few days I was feeling much better and was SO ready to go home but there was still plenty of bile behind my liver that it was too dangerous to remove - so they had to watch me and do lots of ultrasounds to see what that was doing. Today they decided that the biggest part of bile (where the drain was) was completely gone and the smaller pockets behind my liver are shrinking on their own - so they pulled out the drain and I'm home.

I've got follow up ultrasounds and doctor appointments with gastroentrologists, and I am on STRONG oral antibiotics for 3 weeks (these pills are freaking HUGE - I have no idea how I'm going to get them down, lol).

ANYHOW, thank you ALL for your well wishes while I was in the hospital, and to the AMAZING designers here who sent me the most adorable flower arrangement:

(you can't see it but the bee is a little nurse and it says "bee well" on it, lol...so cute)

So, now it's time to catch up on emails and get some designing done (in my more lucid moments between shots of morphine I actually managed to sketch a little bit, and jot down some ideas - lol)...OMG, it's SOOOO good to be home!! I missed my SSD buddies!

Glad to hear you're home Bree, make sure you get lots of rest. Those flowers are soo pretty and that Bee is too cute!

BREEEEEEEEEE!!!! SO good to hear from you! Glad you got to come home! I've been praying for you and will continue to send healing prayers!

Glad you are home and doing better. Sounds eerily similar to what my dad went through a few years ago - he was in the hospital a day shy of a month following what was supposed to be a routine laprascopic gall bladder removal that went really, really bad. Rest well and don't try to over exert yourself!!

Omgosh....what an ordeal. So glad you are home and better. If you start feeling bad at all CALL YOUR DOCTOR!!! I went through a similar hellacious order and almost died in the hospital. I was stuck there for weeks and I totally know what you mean about crying when they say no, you can't go home. Been there. But I am so happy you are better and at home!

I'm about in tears here! I'm so glad you are back home!!! Be sure to go in for those check-ups and if you feel anything amiss...call your doctor right away! Hope you continue to feel better!

so glad you are home!! I can only imagine how painful this was for you. I remember my kidney stones and if gallstones are anything like that I defenitely feel for you!!
