2 forms of payment at a time?

I have a visa gift card thingy for $11.98... and I want to get a couple of things from the shop... I know what I want will be more than $11.98, so how can I pay for some of it with paypal and the $11.98 on the card? I tried but I couldn't get it to work... is there a special way of doing it or can't I?

I've used a GC & paypal at once, but all I did was enter the gc code and when that wasn't enough, it prompted me to chose another payment option. Hope you figure it out.

can you get your cart as close to $11.98 as possible then just do another transaction for the rest?
