1700+ e-mails?!?!

1700+ e-mails overnight?!?!

So I just came online and checked my e-mail...I had over 1700 "mail system error- returned mail" e-mails in my account! What the heck happened?? Something to do with spamming I'm sure...

1700 would have scared the crap out of me when I logged in! I hope you figure out the cause and can stop it!

Sounds like someone has hacked your email account and is using it for spamming. I would immediately change your password on your email account.

Remember, a strong password contains Letters and Numbers and Special Characters and isn't something like your name or anything easily associated with you.

I think that was it. I went into my e-mail online and in the options it said my display name was "Online Organization" and the forward e-mail addy was "[email protected]" or something like that. I changed them and changed my password immediately. I guess I didn't realize how simple my password was and that people would actually be looking to hack into it. :thumbdown:

It happened to my dh..gosh, a couple years ago. That's how I knew right away what to tell you to do.

It's still happening...I had 464 e-mails waiting in that account when I got online today. I have changed my e-mail addy at all the digi places that used that account so if I have to close it out, I can. I hate to lose that addy though...

I'm puzzled by something. I don't get why the hackers wouldn't change the account info to lock out the real owner?

Stupidity? All I know is I keep getting the "mail system- undeliverable" e-mails and when I go in to see what the e-mail was that was sent, it is spam. "you have an inheritance"..."you won the lottery"..."please help my husband"....
