17 Sets of Fireworks!

That's what I saw in the sky this year on the 4th of July! SEVENTEEN!!! :blink:

My mom invited us over to her house. She lives in a condo on Sarasota Bay (that used to belong to my grandfather--but my mom loves living downtown now.) Anyway, we wanted to avoid the crowds downtown and also do some swimming (none of which I remembered to take pictures of... ack!).

Well, when the fireworks started, they were actually partially hidden by another building. So my mom said we should walk out onto the dock that was in front of her building. So, we did. And it was nice. But then I started looking around me in a circle and I noticed that I could see several sets of fireworks going off on the mainland and on the barrier islands. Guess everyone wanted to start at 9:00!

My husband counted. We could see 17 different events from where we were! I don't know how far away we could see... but it almost looked like we could see them in St. Pete! I doubt it. But maybe--because there were at least six going off in what I would have thought was Bradenton! And why would one little city have six big events?! LOL! Florida is pretty flat! You never know...

It was so cool. I just had to share. I wonder what it's like to be a pilot flying on the 4th? Bet that's amazing...
 
that is cool! When I lived in my apartment, I could see 5 towns fireworks - granted they were really far a way... but I remember laying on the floor looking out my patio doors... haha.

I've been on flights coming in to my city while fireworks were going off... it is neat to see. ;)
 
That's amazing! I remember once driving from Chicago to Atlanta and watching the Chicago fireworks on our drive. That was cool!
 
That's so cool.

On Bonfire Night over here I see LOADS of firework displays, I have a view for miles and miles so I can see everyone else's fireworks lol, saves me some money ;)
 
where we live we can see fireworks going off in multiple directions and then of course a lot of our neighbors set therm off too (not just the sparkly kind but the ones that go way up in the air and explode in the air)
 
that sounds like it was an awesome show to see 17 events go off. my neighborhood put off a nice show that lasted for about 45 minutes some on the ground some that exploded in the sky.
 
How cool :) We love fireworks here. We saw them two different nights but no huge displays as we live in a small town and there just isn't the budget for anything really huge. Still, it was nice. :)
 
Wow! That had to be amazing! I'm still getting use to fireworks in New England. We have a wonderful view of the city and the stadium fireworks once the leaves have fallen off of the trees, but it's hard to find a place to see them in the summertime. I grew up in AZ and we had an amazon show for such a small town and I am often disappointed by other shows because nothing compares.
