# 1 - help, please

Okay, I don't have any sweet kits and I'd like to avoid buying just for a prompt. With that said, I'm kind of stumped and need help or inspiration.

#1 Celebrate National Donut Day
We celebrate Fasnacht, which is when people celebrate Paczki, the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday. We don't believe in the good luck that fasnacht is supposed to bring. It's just an excuse for us to eat a donut!

I have photos. I am just stumped on a kit. No I didn't get the Simpsons kit as it's not an approved show in the house. I don't have a lot of baking/cooking kits. I have a lot of generic kits.

I'm just kind of stumped on what types of kits I can use for that without having to buy something just for this prompt.

What did you all do for prompt #1? Can you show me your layouts?

I didn't scrap that one, but I'd use a generic kit and just mention the donut tie-in in the journaling and titlework.

Also, try using your search function to search 'donut' on your hard drive. Sometimes even non-themed kits include a random element that would work but that you'd never remember having if you didn't search.

Last option I've sometimes used is to take a photo of an object like a donut, extract it, and then apply styles (or put it in a flair building template) and use it as an element.

Let your photo do the talking and use any generic kit you like <3 It's all good!! You don't need to have a specific themed kit to make these challenges work they're just to get your mojo going <3

What Kristin said... Just scrap 'in the spirit of the challenge' and you're good to go.

I’m sadly gluten free, so no donuts here. But I plan to scrap a page of my niece in her “donut worry” shirt.

I used a picture of my granddaughter in a donut pool float ;P

Think of donuts as a shape rather than a food item and create a page that has circles with holes in them...

Even a paper like the one on the far right here is fairly "donutty", so just have fun!

Good ideas. I was stumped on that one because I don't know if I have any pics of eating donuts.

I used one of the #BIM collections for that prompt, just used the genetic bits.

I LOVE this, Robin!! I didn't think of the shape, moreso the dessert-element of the challenge!! Awesome! Thank you SO much!!

I don't know why I got so stuck on the actual "theme" of the prompt and couldn't look past it to find an easier way of scrapping that prompt. I have these moments some times where I just get stuck in my thinking and need light to get me to see differently.

Thank you guys SO much!!:wub::wub:

As far as searching--I didn't know that would work unless they were tagged! That's a neat trick!!

Sounds like you've got some great suggestions now -- I never would have thought about the shape either! The search function is a little hit or miss. If the designer used the word you're searching for in the element name, then it works. But even though it's not perfect, most of the time I can find the type of element I was looking for.

I don't have any sweets kit either but I found At the Boardwalk Kit By Amber and Kristin and it has a donut element in it. I had the kit. I wouldn't have bought it just for the element.
If I didn't have anything I would just use a random kit that has the same colors that are in my photos to match. I rarely use themed elements anyway.
