Default Share your recipe(s) with me!

Hubby just got gifted 10kg of apples
So... it's my mission to be able to eat, cook or whatever to do with those apples before it goes bad. Can you awesome ladies share with me some tried and true recipes that are apple related? Preferably recipes that are not over-complicated, please.

Thanks!

So some of these don't use up a ton of apples, but they're yummy!

Apple Crisp for One (1 apple)
Apple-Feta Pizza (1 apple)
Apple Sheet Cake (3 cups chopped apples)
Apple Cake with Caramel Frosting (3 cups chopped apples)
Sweet and Sour Red Cabbage with Apples (2 apples)

Make applesauce! Just peel, chop and then cook them down on the stove top and put them through a blender. Add some lemon juice so they don't brown, and some spices/sugar if you want. That would use a whole bunch of them.

I've never freezed mine before, but I don't see why you couldn't.

I second applesauce! I put mine in the crock pot. Not only does it taste amazing, it makes your house smell DELICIOUS!!

Another I love to do is cobbler. Here's a SUPER easy one!
SO GOOD
(obviously substitute peaches for apples)

Another vote for applesauce. We add cider and cinnamon to ours. We turn some of the sauce into fruit leather and put the rest of the applesauce in the fridge. Hoping to can some this year.

We order 30lbs of apples every fall.... I peel and cut them and then freeze them for pies and apple sauce (or if you could can apple sauce and apple pie filling if you don't have a lot of freezer room). Apple crisp is a great way to use a lot in a hurry. I would love to share some recipes but the ones that I have are "family secrets" and I have been sworn to secrecy...lol

Will try to make applesauce then. I've never made applesauce before, so this would be a first... is it like jam?

I also say applesauce! I wouldn't call it a jam. It's something you can eat as a side or snack here....so more like yogurt or you could look at it as apple soup? Ha! I have no idea what to compare it to. o.O We keep it in the fridge and my girls LOVE it. We also get caramel sauce, cup up the apples, & dip them in the caramel. We go through so many apples that way!

Okay... I think I get the idea! Thanks, Brit!
I'm a fan of caramel, so I won't be making that one, I think...
I'll try the applesauce, my hubby has agreed to trying to eat it

I hope you guys like it! My girls would eat it every day if they could. Adding cinnamon or a little more sugar makes it even more of a treat. Let us know what you think!
