my fitness pal
Who uses this? Anyone want to add me as a friend? I just signed up as I've GOT to get rid of this baby weight (plus the 20 lbs that I needed to lose BEFORE I got pregnant). I feel like I've got a long road ahead of me, and I'm a little nervous. I've got to do something though. I don't like living this way, and I want to be able to run and play with Chloe without getting winded.
I think for me, the realization this week was that my fat jeans are getting a hole in them... so I either need to lose weight or buy new fat jeans! Not gonna happen! Anyway, my username on there is princessbellaluna if you want to search for me. |

After standing still for so long, I actually had a really rough year with a lot of things and gained almost 10lbs since January. I'm more than done this time. Each time I've always said that, but I'm now mortified as I passed that number I never thought I'd reach. So..we're ALL on a mission at our house (Russ has been on one for awhile). Getting every one fitter! (But I promise..won't be posting all those annoying fitness pins LOL) |

Joel and I just made a deal here at home, too. If we either go over our calorie allotment or don't work out, we have to put a buck in a mutual jar. Whoever reaches the goal first, gets the money. P.S. Erm, yeah. Post-pregnancy weight. Me, too. LOL

Is it an app for iPhone? And is it for calories or can you just put workout details in it?
I'm going back to the gym next week one I've spoke to the midwife and I want to keep track of what I'm doing

I'm heathergw818... also just signed up this week, not really lose weight, though that would be nice LOL... but because I'm too tired of not being able to keep up with the boys... I'm signing up for a 5K in September at the zoo and I'm determined to run the whole thing... tho, I'm not a fan of getting up super early to avoid the heat and humidity LOLOL

yeeeaaahhh... baby weight... does it still count as baby weight 5 years later and as heavy as the day before I gave birth? Oy, I should do this... I'm going no where by myself... so frustrating...

Yes, both iPhone and Droid, I think. I know for sure iPhone. You track calories & workouts in it. I LOVE it!

it's not just an app... tho, that's what I use... there is a forum and yes... it's a journal/diary to track calories and workouts... you don't have to track your calories if you don't want to and can just track you workouts... it's really all up to you... I think Darcy uses the forum and I think Jenn does/used to...

Yay! So glad so many of you girls use this! I just finished logging my first day. I'm completely motivated right now, so I hope it stays that way!
Kristin, I love the idea of the jar! Jeff and I are doing this together, too, though he isn't logging things like I am. We just both want to lose weight and be healthier. Of course, men lose SO much more quickly (or at least more easily) than women, so I'm not looking forward to watching it melt off of him while I struggle. LOL |

LOL Ya. My friend did something like this with her hubby, said whoever loses 10lbs first gets to spend $50 on whatever. So he says...gimme a minute to go to the bathroom LOL He pretty much loses weight that easy, so she had no chance!

I'd been using another app that just tracked workouts (although not very consistently), however it wasn't helping motivate me to do what I need to do to lose weight & get healthy. I just took a look at MyFitnessPal and I'm intrigued. It's very similar to a software program I used to use that really worked well for me. The hardest part for me was to keep up with logging the food - because I cook a lot it was kind of a pain to enter all the recipes into the software. I need to do something that will work, though, and this may just be it.
Does anyone here use the FitBit? I'm curious to know how well it works. |

I"m really loving it so far. Today is the 3rd day I've tracked my calories, and I've found it to be really easy to use. SO many items are in there, and I love being able to use the app on my phone to scan barcodes to make it even easier to find foods.
I am already noticing little changes - not so much in the way I feel or look as much as the way I feel about food. I just had a snack of peanut butter toast, and I told Jeff that it's amazing how much better food tastes when you're watching what you eat. I don't know if it's because you know there's only a certain amount or if it's just the fact that you are hungrier. LOL But either way, I'm feeling good. Will weigh in on Friday. I hope to see a change! |

Urgh, first day on it and having to do a computer scan. From the forums looks like an ad is the culprit. But good to know I actually need to increase my calories. My daily hour of exercise threw all the numbers off. Weigh in tomorrow!
