Default "Magic Shell" ice cream topping -- works

A while back someone posted about ice cream and making your own "magic shell" topping at home. So this last week/weekend was my annual "camp" where a couple of my nephews stay with me and we have all sorts of fun and go on adventures, etc. After reading the thread here I decided that I wanted to try making the magic shell during our camp. It was a winner! I even got a couple of "You HAVE to show momma how to do this." heehee

It was so easy and the kids were so thrilled. Worth the effort if you think your kids would enjoy. I used the recipe here: http://www.food.com/recipe/magic-she...copycat-432446

Elizabeth, I use coconut oil for EVERYTHING! We cook in it, use it as a butter substitute in some recipes, and i even use it as a skin moisturizer.

Is there something I could use to substitue the coconut oil to make this? I'm extrememly allergic to coconut! Think I could just use butter? But, I doubt 1/2 cup! lol

really? I had no idea. I had seen it used for so many things. Including a great granola recipe this week.

homemade deodorant :P

A lot of whole food/real food people are cooking a lot with it. Typically, it was always rated as being a highly saturated fat, and has a very bad rap because of it. But if you're using virgin/refined version - it actually has a lot of benefits. (if it's the walmart tub..not so much ! lol).

Still, there are lots of uses for it. It's also a great moisturizer - seriously.

Yup! Coconut and Pineapple are my only known (true)food allergies. Totally random and weird.
