Default Good examples of Christmas newsletters?

I'm thinking about writing a newsletter this year, and I want to do a good one. But I don't want it to be all "My kids are so great and my husband's uber successful and I'm super crafty" like the ones my aunt used to send out. Do you have any good examples? Awesome ones you've gotten from friends? Cute ones from blog stalking? Never done this before, so I need some help!

If I did one (which I won't, cause I'm too lazy) I'd use Misty's newspaper template.

i don't have a copy of it to share, but one of my friends does a newsletter each year that is in the style of 'the onion' - it's HYSTERICAL ... they poke a lot of fun at themselves, but it's really clever!

My sister started writing poems ala Dr. Suess for our family's because she hated how boring they were. People LOVE them and say that they actually look forward to actually reading ours (which they don't do with every newsletter).

Nothing too clever for me. But since I live so far away from our family I just try to talk about big events that we've done during the year, and a little about what the kids are like.

This year a lot of mine was about of trip to Disney and visiting family in Florida and Georiga. And then Keira's cancer and us buying our first house.

I do a month by month breakdown of the year's events and then a final paragraph about everyone's ongoing activities.

Here's mine - it's just a quick, run-down version of the "highlights".

We don't really do anything clever either---except that my hubby always writes it and he's much funnier than I am. He usually starts and ends with something funny and ties it together in the letter. I think if it's not too long, it's okay to not be super funny or anything. Most people we send it to is family and they always love it no matter what.
