Angry Arghhh!!! 3-Year-Olds!!

My 3yo is my trial. Seriously. He and I have been battling it out all day. First he pees his pants (he's been potty-trained for a year). Then he behaves so badly in the grocery store we have to leave early without half my list. And I'm so stressed about getting him out of there, I left what I did buy at the cash register and had to go back in and get it! Then we fought for 2 hours solid about his nap time (trust me, he hasn't grown out of naps, so that's not why). Then he poops in his pants. Honestly, he is the best birth control EVER. My girls = angels. Paul = I don't know. Seriously. I can't figure this kid out. He has ZERO self control. He's super sweet so many times, but a real pain in the rear at others. I am so ready for this day to be over!!

3 was bad..really bad.... but DS is now 4 1/2 (will be 5 in May) and he has gotten soo much better...he still has his moments of being rowdy boy, but he rarely has a total meltdown anymore..unless he's just really tired or something. So hang in there..it gets better

Ya, I'm finding 4 to be much worse than 3 actually......LOL. Plus I think it is a boy vs girl thing....I seriously had no trouble at this age with Ashley!! LOL!

Hmmm well my son is 12 and still has those moments so I feel for you. He is my baby though and he was kinda spoiled for a long time so partially my fault. Now though it feels like he is always in trouble.

3 is just way, WAY worse than 2. My youngest son is 3 1/2 and he is a total stinker right now - and completely destructive too. It's SO hard.

My son is 3 1/2 too, and I feel like I spend more time arguing and fighting with him than anything else! I miss 2, they weren't so terrible after all!

Why didn't anyone tell us that after Terrible 2, there was Terrible 3, Terrible 4, Terrible 5 ?

I'm feeling your pain. Ben will be 4 next month, but he is still very, very 3. If he gets at all tired, all impulse control and good decision making go right out the window. He's the reason we stay home so much. My saving grace has been the new family computer we got for the holidays. He will spend as long as I let him on it, and I'm guaranteed angelic behavior the entire time. (Darn that need to limit kids' computer time!)

My oldest was worse at 4 than at 3, but I think Ben is at his worst right now. And those of you saying it's a boy/girl thing--please, please keep telling me that! It would make me so happy if I don't have to go through this so badly when Lauren hits this stage.

My boy was such a sweetheart, really. That is why if ever we go for kid #3 Id want a boy even if I'd totally kill to shop for all the girly stuff. Now my daughter is another story, she has temper tantrums, is extremely moody and still has sleeping patterns like a baby. Seriously, whenever she naps, all of us in the house breathe a sigh of relief. When she wakes up, everyone stands up and doesn't go near anwyhere her territory - the couch is hers so the big brother moves to the floor, the TV should be on her favorite movie of the day and I should be OFF the computer chair greeting her good morning. Really!!!!!! (I am so laughing as Im typing this hahahaha!)

OMG. Same thing here, girls. My daughter is an angel, my son is a STINKER. My daughter loves to please and be cute and do everything right. My son? loves to tackle his sister, scream until he gets what he wants, and has no ability to listen. It takes me 10 minutes just to get him dressed (get OVER here! stand up! quit rolling around! stop jumping! getting the point??).

Take it from experience....when your girls are teenagers, you will take the 3 yo boy back any day! Just keep reminding yourself he will grow out of it. But 11-18 yr old girls- WOW. Total nightmare.

Reading all these makes me worry that things will be .... INSANE... at our house....
My oldest, a girl, will be 3 on Monday (full of attitude & sass)...the soon to be middle child , a girl, will be 1 on Friday (full of determination & doesn't give up) & the baby (a boy) will be here in March...

So basically we've only got........ 15+ more years of crazy "Terribles" ....

As a baby, my son was an angel, slept, ate, rarely cried. Hit 3 and started going crazy! Bouncing on the bed, tearing up anything and everything. Picking on his little sister. He's now 4.5 and it hasn't really stopped. There is no naps for him and nothing to "soothe" him. He just wants to be the wild child. I can't wait till he starts school. Then the teen years with the girl should be fun. I dare her to bring them boys home to daddy and his M16A2 rifle

OK girls, trying multiplying your little boys times 2 (I have 5 yr old twins!) and then add an 8 yr old boy to that!!! And I swear the 8-yr old is worse tantrum wise than the 5 yr old twins! But even with this, I'm still glad I don't have girls!!!! hehe

My son was an angel until he turned 3. Now.. not so much. He's still super sensitive though, so if he gets in trouble, he cries. He's STILL easier to deal with most days than his drama queen of a sister.

my 7 year old boy has been whiny all afternoon/evening - "Mom, he won't help ... that's not fair ... you can't make me ... NNNNNOOOOO ... MMMMMMMOOOOOOOOMMMMMMM!!!!". And the soon to be 5 year old boy likes pushing his big brother's buttons, which makes it worse. Why did I think they could share a room and think I would survive it?
The 11 year old girl, while ocassionally moody, is NO where near as bad as the two littlest ones. I lucked out with the 15 year old boy ... he was such an angel until he hit puberty!
