Default Dingy Question

Hey... Ok, with the challenges coming up, I just gotta ask... what is a scrap lift? I have only been digi scrapping for a couple o' months, and I am still getting used to the lingo.

Thanks,
AL

Scraplift (comes from shoplift but its not bad)

You are "stealing" someone else's design idea for a LO, but really you are just using their LO for inspiration. Typically this means where you put the photos, elements, or even the colors. It is usually accepted that if you post your LO to the galleries, you link or credit to the original. It is a great way to get the creative process flowing and often the end product looks nothing like the original, but it gets you moving in a direction.

A scraplift is when you take a layout by another scrapper and use it for inspiration for your own page...you can take as much or as little from the original layout as you like..I usually use the photo/paper placement as inspiration and then go from there. Be sure to always credit the original layout though as your source for inspiration

Red face Scrap Lifting..

Thank you for asking this & thanks ladies for answering
I have been wondering the same thing today when I saw the checklist for January challenges... I didn't know whether I was the only person in existence who didn't know what that term meant.
Anyway, I'm rambling.

Thankyou!

while we're at it...there were several terms that threw me when I first started. Here are some more:

RAK (randome act of kindness) - either a layout made for a friend or a free kit from a designer (depends on situation)...

LO - Layout

DD - darling daughter

DH - darling husband

DS - darling son

PM - private message - it's the e-mail function on the website.

CT - creative team - each designer has a team of girls who get their products for free so that they can make awesome layouts to help promote their new kits. These are all the layouts that hit the galleries right when the kits are being released.

That's all I can think of! I'm sure others can add a lot more here!

Thanx for the question...I knew what scraplift was but did not realize I had to give credit also...I need to go amend a few credits in my gallery.
