Default Help with Supper

I am making these for supper. Modifying a meat version for my dh with hamburger. What kind of sauce would you put on it? Or will it need it, never done anything like this before. Any ideas of what I should serve with it? Thanks!

Ingredients

1 cup(s) all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
1 tsp sugar
1 large egg(s), beaten
1/2 cup(s) buttermilk
1 medium sweet red pepper(s), cored, seeded and quartered
6 medium mushroom(s), trimmed and coarsely chopped
1 small onion(s), trimmed and quartered
1 Tbsp chives, minced
2 large egg white(s), beaten until stiff
1/8 tsp table salt, or to taste
1/8 tsp black pepper, or to taste

Instructions
In a large bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, baking soda and sugar.

In a small bowl, stir together egg and buttermilk. Stir into flour mixture.

By hand or in a food processor, mince together pepper, mushrooms, onion and chives; add to flour mixture. Gently fold in egg whites. Season to taste.

Warm a large, nonstick skillet coated with cooking spray over medium heat. Drop fritters by heaping tablespoons onto skillet, allowing an inch between fritters. Cook 3 to 5 minutes on one side, flip and cook until cooked through, about 2 to 3 minutes more. Yields about 5 fritters per serving.

I like mustard dipping sauce myself. (sorry I don't measure, but you can look up a real recipe on Allrecipes.com) Mustard, mayo, little bit of lemon juice, a dash of Worchestershire Sauce.

An asian sauce might be good too - soy sauce, sesame oil, litte Equal, rice wine (or cider) vinegar.

A spicy sweet and sour sauce would probably work as well - no idea how to make that though - I'd use jar sweet and sour and then add some cayene pepper for kick and maybe a dash of hot sauce.

They sound good - come back with a review after dinner.

You could serve with a salad and some fresh fruit
Couscous cooked with chopped veggies and some chicken broth, little shake of curry powder and then some fruit

Thanks, Juli! I ended up putting salsa and a bit of sour cream on mine. Since dh's was only hamburger and the fritter he put ketchup on his. It was a big hit. I enjoyed mine and dh even went back for seconds. Which impressed me cause he was not looking thrilled while I was cooking. lol BTW if anyone is interested that's a Weight Watchers meal.
