Default Know what I hate?

The double drive through at McDonald's... you know, two lanes for ordering, but they merge back into one for paying and picking up.

Went through yesterday on the way to work to grab a drink. I was too lazy to get out of the car and go in the convenience store. So I go in the lane closest to the restaurant and order. Pull forward six inches, where I'm blocked by someone who was in the outer lane. OK, they ordered before me, I'll be the next one. Right?!? Nope, by then someone else has ordered in the outer lane and I kid you not, she tailgated that other person and refused to let me in, even though it was obvious I'd been waiting longer than her and it was my turn.

This happened before and the person paid for my meal, and I ended up paying for hers... since it was less I didn't complain. This time I got the right total, but as I'm paying, I can see they're handing my drink to the person in front of me.

I stuck my head out the window (because by then the lady was saying it wasn't her coffee) and yelled, "That's mine. She wouldn't let me in line."

The drive through person was laughing when I got up there.

I then followed the rude person all the way into town, a good 10 miles. Really? Did cutting me off at McDonalds improve your life any?

I hope they spit in her coffee.

And next time I'll just get out and get my own pop. I hate that stupid dual ordering. Doesn't save me any time and just gives me a ton of stress before I get to work.

Oh, and you know what else I hate? Today I called to make an appointment with a new dr. Mine left, and last year I tried my well woman with her replacement. He's a dude from India and it was NOT a good fit. The new dr. won't take me because I'm still technically on the bad doctor's patient list.

So then I had to call a dr. from 3 years ago that's way far away, but I like. That office almost didn't let me make an appointment and made me go through the whole former patient, which insurance spiel thing again.

My blood pressure wouldn't be high if I could make a dr's appointment with a doctor of my choice without filling out an application.

i hate the double lane too. we have the same problem around here. so yes, i feel your pain.

on the dr. thing, it totally irks me that i have to make a full apt. to get my son's allergy shot. we don't see the dr and the nurse just pokes him and we wait in the waiting room for 30 minutes. seriously-why do i need to make a full apt???

I've never seen a drive through like that! How weird! Seems like it would cause problems a lot with wrong orders.

Oh geez I hate those double drive-thru's at McDonald's here too! I always seem to get stuck in line with the impatient people that can't seem to figure out they need to wait their turn. I've also learned to always find out my total before handing them my card when it's time to pay so I pay for the correct order and then I double-check my order before I ever leave the drive-thru cause they've screwed my order up too many times to count!

Huh, I've never heard of the double drive thru thing either. Then again, we don't have a McDonald's (or any other chain/franchise business in our town), but even when I'm out of town I've never seen one....

I hate them, too. I hated them back when I worked there, and I hate them now going there.

Wre have the same issue here with our double lane. People don't realize that its when you are done ordering.

whoa, double lines? My McD's screws up enough with a single line, I can only hope they never make it a double line.

Hate them too. And ALL of our McD's have converted to double lines. Sucks. I invariably get in the line that never moves. So. Friggin. Annoying.

Exactly this! Can't imagine how a double line could possibly work properly

You know, I don't think I've ever seen the double line in Wichita (though I've seen it in lots of other areas). Maybe I just go to the wrong McD's here. Which one were you in when this happened, Kim?

As a former McDonalds employee (Jeez I hate admitting that sometimes), the double lane actually SLOWS DOWN employee response times, rather than making it faster.

I always wondered why corporate did something that made us slower instead of making us faster-- it wasn't just our restaurant, it was across the board.

McDonald's can only take one order at a time, even with the double lane, so the car at lane 1 can only order when lane 2 isn't, and vice versa. The only time they're trying to save is the time it takes for a car to pull forward and look at the menu, but that is easily accomplished by placing a second menu farther back, rather than a second drive thru entirely.

I have never seen that kind of double line before. We have Checkers down here (ussed to be Rally's) and they have a double line but there works better. The line goes to the left and the right of the building and you order at seperate ordering spots. You pay/pick up at seperate windows.

Oh but I did have an experience similar to yours at Mcdonalds. My husband and I were in line and had just ordered when some lady comes around the corner and just jumps in front of us. I said to my husband what the heck is she doing? My window was down so she must have heard me and she yells out the window I already ordered and they messed up my food. I wanted to tell her so what....get in line and wait like everyone else does or get out of your car and go in. I mean if they mess up our food we either get back in line or go inside we dont just drive in front of someone else. Just rude

The double lines area ALL over here, not just in McD but at multiple places. Because of one at Wendy's I got served an Ale 8 a few months ago, and from that point on I've sworn off them completely. Can't stand them!
