Question about Modge Podge
I recently did this guestbook as a gift for a friend and I loved how it turned out.
I used an 8x8 barebook for this album. Now I would like to know if it's okay to use modge podge to seal the cover and back of the album? it is white so it will get dirty overtime so I'm thinking of putting a layer of modge podge to coat it. I'm afraid that it will get sticky and stick on whatever surface and peel part of the cover (and eventually ruin the album) if I do this, any tips? Thanks a lot.

Try an acrylic spray paint, instead. I haven't had the best of luck with MP on board books like that because no matter how much I let them dry, when it gets humid here, the board books get tacky and a bit sticky. So an acrylic paint (like the one by Krylon) gives you a better surface, and the same protection against dirt, smudge, etc., without having to fight the glue tackiness if you live in a humid area.
And that is a darling book! |

I completely agree with Darcy....I've never had good luck with mod podge as a sealant.
Adorable book!! Where do you find the 8x8 barebooks? Thanks! T. |

they're really cheap here, but you have a minimum you have to spend:
http://www.barebooks.com/chunky.htm I went in on an order with a few people and had more than enough to reach the min! |

I got mine from my local LSS but it was the last piece, they don't stock up very often here. I might order online, I saw that Amazon have them as well. This is the first time I used this kind of album, I always go for MR ones but I'll definitely be using this again...it was easier to assembly because there's no round corners and holes to punch.

What a wonderful gift! I used mod podge to seal a composition book and pencil box and it turned out fine- but REALLY thin coats and beware of streaking!

Yes, that is how they will end up using it. It's hard to make a gift album when you have no pictures, but she liked it. I am doing another one, for another pregnant friend, but this time, i am not using a board book, I am simply sliding the pages in to an album with sheet protectors and I am cutting out the white areas, so they can attach their photos from behind. Each time I do a project I learn something new,
