Default Animal Fosters?

Hey! I'm so excited, I just had to share my new journey.

Anyone in the forum who fosters dogs? Any tips and tricks, especially on how not to become a foster fail?

Meet Little Miss Haven. She's a 3/4 month old Boxer who was set to be euthanized at a local shelter for space. Her sweet little face called to me to start my fostering journey. She'll be joining my boy Gaige, who I adopted 9 months ago. Please send me lots of positive thoughts having 2 high energy puppies. Gaige is a 14 month, German Shepherd mix. So he's right in the middle of his teenage stage with all the puppy energy. LOL

Anyway, isn't she absolutely ADORABLE?!

She is totally adorable! I'm super interested in the idea of fostering. Does this mean that if no one adopts her, you keep her?

She's so cute and seems to be begging for hugs in that photo

So sweet! Good for you! Praying they get along well and you are able to find her a forever home!

No advice, just show her love!

No, ma'am. It just means I am her foster until they find her a home, from what I understand. If she became a "foster fail" then she would come with a $400 adoption fee. Which is what the rescue charges.

They provide all of her vetting. Some also provide food, toys, beds, crates, etc. I haven't gotten that far to asking what all is provided.

I am a little nervous, ok a lot. LOL I just got through the puppy stage and teething. My Gaige at 14 months can be intense so to be adding another puppy kind of scares me.

Thank you. Her little face was so broken when people left, from my understanding. I hope once she comes home she never knows sadness again.

I do have that fear! But I think the $400 adoption fee will deter me. LOL

Bless your heart for taking her in. It breaks my heart to know that so many animals are put to death each day, year, week, because there are not enough homes.

I know I would be a huge foster fail. I grow too attached too fast. If you do decide you want to adopt her, let me know and I will help you with the fee. I donate to a local shelter each month, but I would be happy to transfer that your way if it meant a pup had a loving home.

Tammy, she is beautiful!! Bless you for giving her a home where she can learn to be a puppy and feel love.

I would be a foster fail I'm afraid, lol.

Hopefully, the two dogs will play and wear each other out. I fostered one dog and she and my dog spent a lot of time romping through the house! Then they'd crash. It was easier for us to let her go because she turned out to be not the non-shedding type that she was listed as, so my daughter would get hives when they were together -- obviously not the dog for us. I think that you have to remember that fosters are very important to save dogs and if you foster fail every dog, you won't realistically be able to foster more dogs.

This is absolutely sweet of you. Thank you.

I ended up being a foster fail. Little Miss is home with us for good. I didn't even last 2 days. Since she was only with me for a couple days it was an easy transfer as they hadn't started her vetting yet.

It seems we weren't able to either. She's home for good.

Yes, I get attached quickly and we actually decided to keep her. My husband said he didn't see it working because I fall to quickly and he knows I would have struggled when it was time for her or any dog in my possession to go to their new home. Those who can do it over and over are true heroes.
