*sigh*
It takes me FOREVER to pick a photo I want to use. FOR. EVER. I swear, that takes longer for me than actually scrapping the photo.
So, my question for you is, do you pick a kit to scrap with BEFORE you have a photo or do you match the kit to a photo?

PHotos first. Unless a challenge is involved.

I'm probably one of the odd ones here but I always pick a kit and then find a photo to go with it.

CT LOs I nearly always start with the kit and choose a photo to match. If I'm scrapping for myself, its the other way round.

50/50 - LOL - CT kits are kit first. Specific albums are photo first (vacation album, Disney album, etc.) All the other hundreds of photos that need to be scrapped can go either way. A kit might inspire me to scrap a certain photo or the photo chooses the kit
Sometimes I scrap photos that I really don't want to scrap; i.e. I'm almost done scrapping all of Cheyanne's 2007 pics but there are still some that I need to finish up so I can get that book printed. I'm forcing myself to do it so I pick the photo first and then match a kit by color for the most part. |

I'm an odd duck too, Carrie!
I always find pictures to match a kit. I think because I have pictures for ANY occasion LOL

I'm almost always CT scrapping so it's almost always kit first. I've gotten so slow in the last year that I don't usually have time or motivation for 'fun' scrapping.

Both, really. Like most everyone who has responded, my CT pages start with a kit. I like to start with a photo/idea for my bingo layouts. I am obsessive about my photos matching a kit - that probably takes me 100% longer than it should. Sigh. (Or time spent editing the photos so they're just right.)
But yes, I'm quite sure the photo/kit process IS what makes me the slowest scrapper in the world.

I find the pictures after the kit and choose them by theme, if colors do not match I convert them to sephia or black and white or even change shirt colors etc at times. I am OCD when it comes to matching.

Because of my CT work, mostly I match a photo to the kit but I almost never stress over what photo b/c if a color photo doesn't work with a kit, I apply a b/w conversion to it and it usually works then. I also have a lot of nature/landscape shots so they will work with almost any kit which makes it easy.

If it's not a CT page, I always do pictures, template, then kit.
The photos are the easiest part for me to choose for regular pages, but it takes me FOREVER to choose photos for Project Life layouts. When I sort my photos, I take the few best and set them aside for traditional layouts. Then everything else from the week goes into a Project Life folder. Any photos that don't make it onto the PL page will never escape my computer...there's something about knowing that that makes it so hard for me to narrow it down!

For personal pages/photo books - I ALWAYS start with the photos and I go crazy until I choose the right kit because I always want them to match my photos. I feel content when there's a color harmony lol
For CT pages - I usually start with the kit itself but not always. It really depends on my inspiration. If I see a kit and I know I have the perfect pic for it, I start with the photo

Besides the title, the photo is the last thing chosen for me. I think it's super weird that I do it that way, but I never change, lol.
