I need a new (reasonably priced) blender
Any recommendations? I'm poor and we've had a lot of extra expenses lately so I really want to get the most out of my money. No way can I buy a Vitamix or anything like that. It's one of those things I don't really want to be spending money on but....mine's on it's last legs. I don't use it everyday, probably two or three times a week average, mostly for smoothies, making enchilada sauce and blending soups.

Oster Beehive 5C. This is the one I got. It is a workhorse, though it's loud (so I set it on a folded up towel to help absorb the sound). |

I was going to recommend an Oster also because of this: After being a big fan of the Magic Bullet and then breaking 3 of them, my DH finally brought home a cup attachment to use on our Oster blender:
http://www.amazon.com/Oster-6026-Ble...ref=pd_sim_k_7 It's awesome! And I think he got it at Costco or Sam's Club as a kit with 2 cups and extra blades. Much cheaper than a Magic Bullet and great for smoothies and shakes. |

I believe, mason jars work as cup attachments too!

I have had my Ninja for about 4 or 5 years now and use it daily, sometimes more than once a day. I LOVE this thing. A smoothie seriously mixes up in seconds. The blades are just as sharp and strong as the day I bought it. I also make tons of soups and it works beautifully for those too. I will never ever go back to a regular type of blender again.

I was going to suggest an Oster as well. We had one as a kid and I inherited it from my mom when she moved into a smaller place. I used it a lot. Ours was more then just a blender as it had attachments for grinding meat & mixing for like dough and stuff. But it was at least 20 years old when I got it.

another vote for the ninja. you can get them at bed, bath and beyond with a 20% off coupon that you can snag online and that thing ROCKS. we loooove ours. it makes plain ice into snow cone ice. it's incredible.

We have the Oster that Darcy linked to also. We love it! I actually bought it for dh for his birthday a few years ago because he likes to make milkshakes and ours was crappy. I bought it on a whim without doing any research so imagine how suprised I was that it was a good one! LOL

We had a lower end Oster that was worthless, and DH couldn't resist buying a Ninja. We seriously use ours all the time we love it so much!
