The American Revolution originated in Williamsburg with such great Virginian patriots as George Washington, Patrick Henry, and Peyton Randolph. It was humbling to see how these great men and ordinary townspeople responded to British threats; and how they decided to declare that the colonies were no longer under British rule but free and independent United States of America.
