One Word Challenge #9 "Story"
[i]This was such a fun situation! Riverside held
their awards ceremony for grades 1-6 near
the end of the school year. Eden was the
only kindergartner because she came with
me. Mrs. Cyr (our principle) was passing out
the gym awards and explained that our
gym teacher wasn?t awarding those students
who displayed the best ?athletics?, but the
students who were the best team players,
who jumped in and tried new things and who
was kind and considerate. And then she said,
?And the first awards goes to.. Eden Fowler!?
What a surprise! She looked totally shocked,
and walked to the front of the gym to accept
her award. I heard at least a dozen ?aww!?s.
She made a bee-line straight back to me
and buried her face in my neck. She had
tears in her eyes and later told me, ?It was
because I was so happy.? I love that she won
this award because she truly is the WORST
athlete in her class, but knowing she is a good
sport makes me so proud.[/i]
