My sister Anna and I were shopping for stocking stuffers at the Dollar Tree a few days before Christmas 2024. We spent most of the time laughing about everything, and remembering all our shopping adventures with Mama. It was a brief moment of light in our shared grief. When I left Anna to go home that night, I was driving over the bridges into Pace and saw a shooting star. It was late so I didn’t call Anna right away, and I ultimately forgot to tell her about seeing the star and that I felt Mama was sending us a bright light. When I opened this gift from Anna on Christmas, I told her the story and we both cried. If I ever doubted that Mama was with us in spirit, those doubts left immediately. Anna also has this lovely shooting star bracelet from Pandora. It reminds us of Mama as well as that we have one another and it’s a blessing. I make sure to be aware of little blessings like these all around me!
