Journaling: Construction of the Community of Christ Temple in Independence, Missouri was started in 1990 & completed in 1994. The construction of the building was the first to literally represent the Fibonacci sequence, first described by Leonardo of Pisa, a 13th-century Italian mathematician. Computers were used to complete the design of the building. The Fibonacci sequence is when each number is the sum of the two preceding numbers, a pattern found throughout nature and the inside of a nautilus shell. The ratio of the numbers approaches 1.618, or phi.
