My delivery story (first layout of two)
To make a long story short:
My baby was born on Tuesday March 15th. He made his arrival on earth a wild adventure.
I had to go to the hospital on Monday March 14th. They had to induce my labor because of the medicine (syringes) I had to give myself on a daily bases. The doctors didn't want to let me go over his due date.
The plan was to induce my labor on Monday evening and give birth on Tuesday.
Everything went well until Tuesday around noon.
It all went too slow. And they wanted to give me epidural. But it turns out I have a bad back and my vertebrae (I hope that is a work, because I had to use google translate) are to close together to put the needle in. They had to try 4 times to get it right.
The epidural made my baby troubled and restless and he didn't respond well. The epidural also made my contractions stop. They gave me medicine to start the contractions again. And they tried to calm down my baby. But nothing worked. And it would take at least 8 hours until he would be born. So they decided it was best that he was born with an emergency c-section.
They rushed me to the operation room.
But when they moved me from one bed to the other bed, the epidural got loose.
So when they were about to start the c-section, they couldn't etherize me. They tried several times and gave me the highest dose possible, I could still feel everything.
After 20 minutes, they ran out of time and they decided to put me under full anesthesia to get my baby.
So I missed the actual birth of my baby.
He is healthy and doing great, but not being there the moment he was born, is emotionally and mentally really hard.
But I feel so blessed he made it.

Disappointing for sure when things don't go as you plan, but congratulations that he's here and you are both well. Enjoy sweet Finn! Love to you - your page is beautifully scrapped!

I really feel for you. I would also have been so upset I wasn't able to see him being born. I would advise that you speak to a professional, therapist or counselor, to help you heal with this mental struggle. I know healthcare isn't as bad where you are as in the US so you should really try. The first year of having a newborn is so hard and you need to be as strong as you can be.

(((HUGS))) Sarah! Back in the day lots of women were put out to have babies. I'm so sorry you missed it, but doing what was best for him shows what a great mom you already are.

I'm so thankful you both came through safely--but I am sorry you missed his birth and that things didn't go as planned. This is a great way to document the birth story--perfect template and, wow, your clusters here!

Sorry that it didn't go as planned, but you are both healthy and safe and the best laid plans don't matter, as long as the end result is a happy one. Love your creative way to document a very personal time for you, it is stunning. x

I'm so glad everything turned out ok. I decided to try an epidural for my third child because he was born with a heart defect and I thought I would have more control with an epidural...worse decision ever! I would not recommend one to anyone! Anyway, thank you for sharing your birth story and CONGRATULATION!! Welcome to motherhood!

Sorry that his birth was not all that you had hoped for. But you did awesome Mama and need to take comfort in that. A wonderful longed for son, years from now how he came into the world won't matter as much as all the memories you have created together.
