When we found out we were pregnant, it was a shock. Here we were, High School Seniors and
about 4 months shy of graduation. We had the names picked out and set. Jeff had picked out
the boy name....Owen James....which later turned into Owen Jeffery. I had the girls name picked
out.....Sara Marie. Jeff had the name picked out since he was about in his early teens I think
he said and I just love the name. Well Sara is after my great grandma. Growing up in the
south she went by her middle name. NO ONE, not even my grandma, knew her real name was
sarah until her funeral. Marie is my mother’s middle name and mine as well so I wanted to keep
on with that ‘tradition’. Well it ended up being a boy, so I left the girl name alone and put
my focus on Owen. bout 2 years later my sister gets pregnant....she had these crazy names
picked out....then at the last few weeks of her pregnancy, I am told she changed it to sarah marie.....was in shock.
she tried to pass it off on my mom who said “well after having Owen you never said you wanted to keep the name.
My sister even told my ”friends” (at owen’s birthday party) that I had no right to be mad because I had Owen. Yes I do think I have a right to be upset and hurt to the fact that no one even asked if I was going to want to use the name
later on. I was even told by my mom to use the name anyhow. (my sister added my grandma’s middle
name into Sarah Marie) I was not happy with that either. Everytime I see Sarah I can’t help but
have my heart tug and be sad because I feel like I should be the one that you call mommy. So much of what you do
reminds me of me, but I’ve come to terms with the fact that you’re not mine and it is really bittersweet but I have came to
terms that you are mine as my first neice by blood and that Tiff loves you alot.
