And whoops, at Nicole's request... ;) ...journaling reads:
"When Owen was about 8 months old, he started having the hardest time going to bed at night. Even after he’d fall asleep, he would usually wake up about 30 minutes later crying until we went into his room to pat his back and sooth him back to sleep. In early August, we went away for a long weekend. . . and he completely lost it every night when we put him into his pack ’n play. For those few nights, we resorted to holding him until he fell asleep (something we didn’t normally do). . . and one night, I even laid on the floor next to him and sang “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” to him repeatedly until he wore himself out with all of the crying and fell asleep. The whole experience was exhausting, and by the time we came home we were at our wit’s end. On our last day away, however, we happened to buy him a stuffed zebra (at a Cracker Barrel, of all places), and he held it in his carseat during the entire drive home. That night, at bedtime, the crying began again. Out of desperation, I reached into his crib and handed him the zebra. . . and he wrapped his arm around it, closed his eyes, and immediately went to sleep. Literally - immediately. It was both the craziest, and most beautiful, thing I have ever seen. We went back and bought the entire set of 4 animals (lion, elephant, giraffe, & zebra). . . just in case."
