Journaling reads: I will never, ever forget the morning of 9-11-2001. I was at work at Avery Vision Center in St. Johns. my coworker, trish, had just walked through the doors and said that a plane had crashed into one of the towers in nyc. i didn’t think much of it, until we heard over the radio a few minutes later that another plane crashed as well. we didn’t have a tv in the office, but i only lived a block away, so i decided to head home to get the tv from my bedroom. i distinctly remember walking out to my car and looking up at the sky. it was as blue as could be with no clouds to be seen. i was afraid that there were planes all over the u.s. that were going to be crashing in each state. pure terror. i took the tv into the office and even though we were still seeing patients, my coworkers and i still managed to watch in awe and disbelief. we were sad, we were worried, we didn’t know what was going to happen next. after work that day, i went home and watched the news all night long with my parents. i had a hard time sleeping that night, thinking of all the families with loved ones killed in the act of terrorism. how could someone be so upset at the u.s. to do such a thing?
