Dealing with |e lack of sleep has been |e hardest |ing for me to adjust to as a mother. It started in April 2006 when I got pregnant with my daughter. I had no idea how often I would wake to use |e ba|room, or flip my huge pregnant belly over in bed to change positions. And when she was born, YIKES. No one told me it was ok to sleep with your baby, safe even if done correctly, and so every time she wanted to nurse, which was every two hours, I got up, surrounded myself with pillows, and |en proceeded to sit up and nurse her while nodding off. The best night of sleep we got was about a week after she was born, when I figured out how to nurse her lying down - we all slept for six hours straight and it felt like a little piece of heaven on ear|. She didn’t sleep |rough the night until around 22 months! And when she was 26 months old, I got pregnant wi| our son, and had |e worst insomnia EVER for six mon|s, until I found a Hypnobabies hypnosis track for sleeping. It worked and I started sleeping better. When he was born, I got more sleep because |is time I knew it was ok to sleep with him, and because I knew how to nurse lying down. He’s a great sleeper but he does still wake at least once, usually twice, during |e night to nurse. I know it’s for a short time but every night I go to bed hoping |at maybe |at night will be |e one he sleeps all night long. I will miss |ese late-night quiet times with my last sweet baby when |ey are gone, but oh how I long for a full, uninterrupted night’s sleep!
