James the Ceiling Fan Ninja

First, the important PSA:

Everyone who knows me laughs about my irrational fear of ceiling fans. I hate them. I don't really like them on in the room when I'm in it. Though I call it an irrational fear because I've never known anyone to be hurt by a ceiling fan. I've just always felt like they could come down from from the ceiling and just fly off and kill people.

Well last Thursday James called and said to me, "You'll never believe what just happened. I was sitting here and a blade flew off my ceiling fan." Apparently it wasn't the whole fan, just one blade. It just hit a book on his bookshelf, no harm was really done. But my fears are confirmed. These things are dangerous!

And I'm making it my mission to spread the word. Be careful with these little death wind machines! Every six months when you check the batteries in your smoke detectors, check the screws in your ceiling fans for normal wear and tear! James' issue wasn't a screw, it just snapped off. He called his apartment complex and they said they'd come out and fix it. Hrm. Still. Death traps. I tell ya.

So anyway, I decided to do a layout about it anyway, to make light of it, and maybe help me sleep at night.

Third, The journaling:

Meet James. He leads a rather ordinary life. During the week he teaches English at the local university. On the weekend he goes to the movies with his girlfriend. He likes to read and play video games. But last Thursday, James became a ceiling fan ninja. He was sitting at his desk getting a bit of work done, and a ninja crept out of the closet, ready to strike the professor on the back of the neck. James jumped out of his chair and swung from the ceiling fan, snapping a blade of the fan off nimbly in his hand. He made quick work of destroying the ninja with his ceiling fan blade, complete with onomatopoeic sound effects. He used the blade to hold off the ninja while he delivered kicks, punches, and the occasional "hi-yah!!!" The ninja retreated, downtrodden. And that is how James became known as the ceiling fan ninja.
Scary! I hate ceiling fans, mostly because mine shakes SO bad everytime I turn it on. But I need it.... so it's a love/hate relationship.

Great layout, and I love love love the journaling!

You are not alone in your distrust of ceiling fans Lena! I worry EVERY time I turn mine on... probably because its ancient and wobbles everywhere! Cute page!!

Awesome page Lena!! I'm laughing at the kit name and the font you used! So totally appropriate!!

We have fans on all the time here!! Definatly something we couldnt live without in this climate!

I can't sleep without my fan on! Cute page...love it.

Oh and the newer ones are remote controlled...very cool. and the wobbling is a balance issues. just make sure it's properly installed and secured to a rafter and get the fan rebalanced.
