Journaling reads "Ryan's first day of preschool was supposed to be on Thurday, August 21st, but it got cancelled due to Tropical Storm Fay. He started school the following Tuesday. He was very quiet and did not seem very excited as he dressed in comfy clothes, put on his new, light-up police car tennis shoes, and carried his Backyardigans lunchbox to his new classroom. His favorite stuffed dog, Tasha, went with him but did not stay at school because we were afraid she might get lost. When Mel and I left Ryan that first day, he was happily drawing a flower on a small chalkboard. And at the end of the day, the teacher told Mel he had a great first day. As a special treat, Mel bought Ryan a big bouquet of teal and pink daisies on the way home from school!"
