The Golden Girls was one of-and still is-my favorite television shows. My mom and I used to look forward to watching the episodes on Saturday nights. We would sit and laugh at Rose because she was SO dumb. As a kid, this show was pretty “adult for me, as it addressed topics such as homosexuality, sex, guns, death, and many other adult issues. There were lots of sexual jokes and even some swearing, which was a no no at that time-1985-1992ish. I think out of all the characters, I liked Sophia the best. She was so fiesty! I loved her sarcasm-I am sarcastic too. I thought it was hilarious how she picked on Rose and Blanche all the time. I loved the way she began her stories: Picture this: Sicily, 1942...
I still enjoy watching this show when I am flipping through the cable channels. I can only watch it by myself, as my husband makes a huge sighing sound when I turn it on and then always whines about watching something else.
