My layout remembering the 9/11 incident - using a picture my daughter drew 9 years ago.....
Journaling reads:
On September 11, 2001, two planes were overtaken by Al Quada terrorists and were forced to crash into the Twin Towers in New York City, both towers collapsed within 2 hours. Another plane was hijacked and was forced to crash into the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia. Nearly 3000 people died in the attacks. The news played the story over and over - as the nation was in shock that something like this could happen in our own country. There was so much going on and the images that we saw were truly one of pain, sorrow and devastation - it made you numb inside. While watching the news one night, everything changed for me while listening to a reporter tell the story of a young mother who had to tell her daughter that her father was not coming home - he had died in the Twin Towers. The daughter had sat quietly after hearing the news and then asked her mother if God had enough arms to hold all the people who died that day. I instantly started crying and everything inside of me that was quiet about this event - just came out in my tears. I don’t really remember how long I cried but I remember feeling a tiny little hand reach out and hold mine. It was Amy and she was the same age as the little girl in the story. I know God was with us right then and there to remind me how blessed I was to have my family and how I should never take for granted any moments that I have with them. A year later Amy drew this picture at school and I remember looking at it and thinking - there is no way we will ever forget this day. It is burned in our hearts forever.
