How do you name your layouts?

I know there is wide variability in how people name their layouts, so I'm curious how you do it and why!

I name mine by date and kit. For example: 20120615_KitName

I like do it this way so that they are organized chronologically by when they are created since that typically follows when I took the photos, etc and makes it easy when I put my photobook together at the end of the year.
 
Mine are by my CTs or by sites (which really screws me up if a designer moves).

When I save the .jpg to print though they get put into monthly folders so I can organize when I print a photobook.
 
I just name by the title of the layout...I REALLY need to organize though so they are actually in order...I should go back and add the date to each layout name. They are divided into months/years but the folder is just a mess
 
By LO title. Then they go into monthly folders for the date the pics were taken.

I have a spreadsheet to guide me when it comes to dropping them into order for printing.
 
I have a folder for each year. Then inside that is a folder for each month. Then I name it date & title. Like a layout with pics from yesterday would be in the June folder titled 13 nature walk.
 
This is really interesting! I'm surprised more people don't use the layout title to add a component of the date since it eliminates the need for the subfolders. I have month/year folders for photos because I have so many of them, but when it comes to layouts I really don't want to add another layer of organization, so I just use the title to organize them. At the end of the month, I just drag my completed layouts to a folder for that year and they are automatically arranged chronologically due to the file name.
 
I have a folder for each printed album. In most cases that's the year (2012 Album), but not always (A Week In the Life 2012). Within each album's folder they're organized by layout title. I print individual pages rather than photobooks, so labeling by date doesn't make it easier to print. When I'm looking for a layout in the future I'll remember the subject/title but not the exact date.
 
I only have yearly scrapbook LO folders and under that year I label mine by the date the pics were taken and then whatever the title is

i.e
01_21_12AbbyBirthday

but my web images I have started saving like this:
angiemiller_designername_layout001 (this makes it so much easier to find my lo's for website upload )
 
I save mine with the date & the name of the layouts/description, i.e. 201206_Ari&Boys. When I save for web, I just replace the date with web.
 
just the title of the layout. Im pretty sure you can organize by date created in the options so I dont worry about the date in the title. And I can almost always remember the designer because I usually upload while the layout is still open on my computer so I can credit them.
 
I name mine with my initials, the year and the kit name. I started this because at one gallery I post at....at one time if someone else named their page the same as your it would replace your page with theirs in your gallery!!! :huh:

So when I scrapped with Jenn/Traci's newest scoop, I named my page this:

eam2012-oh-the-drama
 
mine are just the title with the size. The original is just the title and then I add a -700 or -600 depending on size.

I don't scrap in order OR print in any specific order so it works for me. I love seeing a variety of pages in my books!

Unfortunately that doesn't work when putting books together. In theory it would work if you were creating the book from your computer, but when I create books, I have to upload my pages to the third party site I'm using to publish the book, so after I've done that, I've lost that piece of data. Many times they default to alphabetical order, so a system with the year/month/date puts them back in chronological order by virtue of being alphabetized.

Yep...I just started a month or 2 ago saving my LO's by date. I put one letter in the front of it describing which book it will go in. Here's some examples:

My son's would look like this: L-0612 Playing in the Mud

My Journal: J-0614 One Little Word

Our Family Album: U-0517 Moving
 
That's a great system for printing to multiple books Kristi! If I ever decide to separate mine, I will definitely use that tip!
 
I use the date (yymmdd) of the event in the photos and a the title of the layout, like this:

120615-Title-700

Lately I've been saving a 700 and a 600 version of most of my layouts. If I do that, I add the 700 or 600 at the end of the Web versions of the layouts. If I only save in one size, I don't bother with that little extension.

I have folders for each album. This year so far: pregnancy and general.
The first layout gets #1 Title

Then I count upwards.
 
Well duh Kristin!!! Next year I'll start putting them in one folder and use the year to start! That makes complete sense! Thanks!
 
Year-month-day-title. E.g. 12-05-23-Sweet. If it's a web copy, I just add the word web after the title.
 
I have a separate folder for web sized layouts.
I even don't save the final tiff file anymore as I never change my final layouts anymore. I just check my journaling carefully in spelling errors.
 
date + title. for example '20120609 7 years'. The date is generally the date the photo was taken, although sometimes it's the date I made the layout if the journaling is more timely than the photo. I don't scrap chronologically, nor are my albums arranged chronologically, but I like looking at the layouts that way on the computer. Plus, they're easier to find this way!
 
I name my Los according to what the page is about: ie - "Ethan 14th birthday" and then this goes into appropriate year folder.

I name the layout the title of the page, but then I save it into a folder that has the year and unprinted. Once I print, it gets moved into a folder named Scrapbook pages_Year
 
I don't really have a good organizational system for naming. Usually I just go with the title of the LO. Then, I save my highes files for printing and file them by month and year. I really should come up with a better system! :p
 
For web, I save in a separate web folder and name it with a short version of the title, 600 or 700, and then my screen name. So a layout titled Brothers and Friends might be saved for the galleries as Brothers700_rach3975.
 
I generally put credits in my title, ie "template creator_kit name_font used". I don't care about the date I created the layout.

Then it gets filed in the 'to be printed' folder; once it's printed it goes in the 'printed' folder.
 
The original layered photoshop file is named whatever paper I opened up to use as my canvas. :p
Then I save my jpg as whatever I've decided as a title for the page.
