OMG! My baby birds flew the nest!!

I was out watching them awhile ago and one of them hopped up, stood on the edge of the nest and jumped! It fluttered around the bushes for a few minutes, then hopped over to my porch and just stood there in front of the door for a few minutes, LOL! Eden and I followed it up and down the sidewalk because I wanted it to stay safe. After a little while I snuck out to check on the other two and maybe I spooked them, because they jumped out too. ACK! I'm a nervous wreck!

Does momma keep an eye on them? Do they ever fly back up there? Off to research. I'm so worried!

I think once they lose the "fluff" and start getting feathers they are ok. If you want them to stick around offer a variety of seeds and some water

Ok, I did some research and I think they are right on track. What I read said that they usually all 'fledge' on the same day but that mom & dad still take care of them for about 3 weeks, they just have to hunt them down to feed them. I guess it's like when our babies take off crawling... we never get a moments rest, lol! One stood on our deck chair and chirped at me FOR AN HOUR while I was doing dinner and clean up. So I couldn't let the dogs out (because they eat small animals) and had to take them out the front on a leash.

Geesh!

Two of them are hopping around the tree now and one has managed to get back up in the nest.

Am I going to be like this every time I find a nest?

Awwwwwwww!! Cute! I've been living vicariously through your story because we had a few little eggs in a nest on our outside patio (in a hanging planter!) and I watched them and took photos... but then, the mom left one day and never returned to her eggs. I was a little sad! So glad to see your pretty blue eggs turned into beautiful little birdies! yay!

Oh no! I wonder if she was killed? I heard that sometimes robins will return to their nest and use it again, so I'm not touching it.
