What are you getting your honey for Valemtine's day?

We usually don't do much.........in the past we have done cards and a nice dinner at home. This is the first year we are not doing ANYTHING. I am not doing well with it. *sigh* I am not a roses and chocolate kind of girl but it is nice to have a little something special every once in a while. My hubby will be working that evening (he works Monday - Friday evenings). I tried to talk him into doing a date this weekend or next weekend and he was didn't go for it. ugh. SO, on v-day, I will be going insane at home taking care of the kiddos and probably going crazy. LOL

We don't really do anything, though I know the hubs sometims feels "pressured" to celebrate in some form. But really, this year the 14th falls on a MAJOR DEADLINE for me so I doubt I'll be in a chocolates and wine mood, lol. I do, however, take the opportunity to wish Valentine's Day to everyone--friends, family, etc. it's a day of LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE--everyone should be in on it :)

I guess I am in the minority - We do valentines day - Big - for 2 reasons - We didn't do gifts for so long when we were 1st married - Now we can afford to do it and I love it - And he is gone so much with the Military that we are lucky to spend any holiday together - even a cheezy one ... So, I am getting him another Apple TV box for the bed room - He is a tech nerd - and something sexy to wear - We get so busy that sometimes its nice to have a day that we can remember to focus on us -
We are also going out to dinner - we are huge foodies, but usually I pick - he is picking the restaurant yummy

I have to say that I LOVE your idea for a show - I would totally do that!!!

I love Valentines' Day but DH doesn't (insert "commercial holiday made up by greeting card companies" rant here). So we compromise with the traditional candy and flowers so that I can feel like we acknowledged the holiday and he can feel like he didn't have to put too much time, effort, or money into a holiday he dislikes. So yeah, no real help here. With his birthday in Jan. and mine in March, we probably wouldn't do big gifts even if we did exchange.

How funny ... my birthday is in January and hubby's is in March ... I'm still deciding on something for him ... have been running on "empty" ... but I had told him that his paying the "extended warranty" on my new laptop could count ... as it was something I really wanted. ...but I'll be making him a card in the morning ... Traci's sale on her valentines kit was perfect timing!

One of our favorite BBQ places had a "Valentines Day EVE" dinner special so we went out tonight and ate. Yum. Was so full I couldn't eat the dessert so brought it home ... guess I eat it tomorrow. ;-)

Well dh has been in the field the last two valentines days and this one too. But he did leave me jewelry. He has great taste in. Usually he does flowers or chocolates or something. He's not super romantic so Vday is a great reminder to him to be romantic for a day. :) I got him a new fossil watch and some chocolate. It maybe a cheese holiday but I love holidays.

I bought him a sandwich maker he's been wanting, LOL cheesy I know but he wouldn't buy it and I knew he really wanted it!
My dd made him some cupcakes last night which almost brought me to tears she put I love you dad on top of em and he ate one b4 I could get the pic :/
All i want is some sushi and wine, I don't need anything else...

My dd says the same thing as Lynette it's just a Single Awareness Day and love should be celebrated everyday not b/c of some made up cheezy holiday, LOL

Well, DH tricked me! I woke up to candy and a card. And he even put out bags of candy for the boys. We are going to dinner tonight, then watching Top Shot! :)

So my dilemma, do I get him a card? Or is that just seen as a forced reciprocation? Hmmmm....

I got him a card and he got me a card and my favorite...yellow roses! I got the kids little trinket (feather ear rings for the girls and legos for the boys) and some chocolate. And I have cupcake in the oven that I'll decorate and add some sprinkles and heart picks to for after dinner!! Saturday was my birthday and we spent the whole weekend eating out and shopping so Valentine's day is almost always low key around her for us!!!

^^^^^ I agree!!! ^^^^^ I still have to go out and get something today ... I have been racking my brain for weeks ... everything he "wants" has to be ordered and I don't know enough about it ... to have ordered it. He is totally obsessed with getting parts for the CNC machine he is building. I didn't want to get him a GC for the favorite store ... argghhh ... think think think ... I WANT to do this ... he is just so picky ... and he won't watch movies on DVD ... and I don't feel like I could spend the money on a flat screen because we have to remodel our bathroom because we have had a leak and we're down to one bathroom for 5 people ...

.... but I am making him a heart shaped meatloaf for dinner ... and Valentines cake for everyone ... and boys are getting heart shaped pizzas ...

.... one boy is getting jeans as he needs them ... and the other two are getting new coats ... that wasn't originally the plan but Kohl's had like 80% and more off this last weekend ... so they are getting like medium weight coats since we drop them off at school and pick them up ... they don't need the heavyweight coats ... I spent $23 for $180 worth of coats!!!

Well I don't care how uncool it makes me, I love Valentine's Day. I like any excuse to celebrate really. I have a great DH and he does nice things for me often so I don't feel like it's a once year mandate for him to be nice KWIM? The idea of going out is horrifying to me and we're not grand gesture people but we always acknowledge it. I got DH a Talavera pot and some cinammon hearts. The girls got little magnetic display boards and $1 Target mailboxes filled up with candy. DH bought each of the girls really cool necklaces, one's Scottish sea glass the other is a fairy stone.
