Consider my mind blown!

Brodo gettin her Swerb on
So I'm making dinner, and Jordan walks in the kitchen. And he asks if I'm going to buy a new computer with my tax refund. We had discussed this before, and I said no, I'm going to buy the DSLR and then save the rest so we can do stuff around the house.

He tells me no, just go ahead and get the laptop. Look into it and let me know what you're thinking about.

Then he says, "and if you really want the Nikon, just go ahead and get that one."

Umm....what?? Anyone remember the threads from thursday where he was fighting me tooth and nail on the camera issue?!?!
I told him I'd ready waited this long for the camera, waiting a few more weeks until the store got the XSi in wasn't a big deal. Then I will have seen all the options and made a decision.

OK fine. He doesn't really explain the sudden change of heart, but now I'm dreaming of my new laptop, and my new camera, and getting excited.

So we sit down to eat dinner. We eat on the couch at the coffee table, because he has refused to let me buy chairs for the dining room table that we have. I want to just go to Ikea and get 6 chairs and be done with it, but he hates Ikea (we won't even get into THAT). His family was here for Easter this weekend, and at dinner on friday night 2 people had to sit on the floor to eat.

So we're eating, and out of nowhere he says, "Oh and just go buy the chairs you want for the dining room."
I literally dropped my spoon into my bowl, and just looked at him. He said "I'm just giving up on all fronts, do whatever you want." LOL

I am EXCITED!!! I'm still going to wait for the camera for a few weeks, but I'm starting to look for a new lappy tonight! Whoohooo!! I love when he gives in and realizes I'm right!

LOL, he probably had time to think about it and realize you were making sense. I've been wanting a laptop too since our desktop pc is so old and slow, but waited till we got our return and it happened to coincide with my bonus from work.

So...everyone got presents...he got his truck, I got my laptop AND bamboo fun! :) Everyone's happy!

LMBO!
Is there anything else you have been wanting-cause it sounds like tonight is the night to ask...or mention...Hooray Col!

ok, now...seriously...you've gotta host a seminar on how you got to this point. I'm sure many ladies would be interested lol.

Hahahahaha, trust me guys, this is the FIRST and I'm sure ONLY time this will be happening! LOL!

I think part of it, was that even his mom was making fun of him when I told her the story about trying to buy chairs for the dining room, lol. AND when I was at the mall with his mom and sister, I stopped in the Ritz store to see if maybe, just maybe, they had gotten the XSi in their shipment on thursday. They didn't, but they wanted to know which one I wanted, vs which one Jordan wanted. And as I was explaining the situation, they were both like "but he doesn't take pictures......why does he even care? It's YOUR camera!" I was like YES! THANK YOU!

So yea. Part of it was badgering him. Part of it was humiliation. :p

The only bad thing is that I'm relatively clueless when it comes to computers. So I'm probably just going to say "find me something with a lot of RAM, a lot of hard drive space, and is LIGHT" and let him do the work, lol. I don't know what processors I need and what's a waste of money, you know? He'd a computer geek, he'll know what to do.

I'm looking at HP's and Sony Vaio's. Who's got some tips for me on what to look for/get in the new laptop?

Woo Hoo Col! Isn't it great when they realize they've been stubborn for no good reason and just give in? Be sure to give that man of your some extra lovin' for being so sweet.

P.S. Tell him that I agree with him on the Ikea business. I do NOT like that place. :)

ITA!!! Seriously because I'm dreaming of harwood floors here! LMAO!

That's the thing that has me baffled Jaclyn! We've got a MILLION things we want to do in the house, including hardwoods (probably laminates, but whatever) through the upstairs living area, and MAJOR renovations in the 2 bathrooms. I was like, why should I spend my money on a laptop when I can save it for stuff for the house?!?!

Totally baffling to me, this complete switch of gears. He's a penny pincher, so for him to tell me it's ok to spend around $3k in like a month, is TOTALLY weird, lol.

I don't mind Ikea, and I understand him wanting to buy nice things for the house now that we have it. But he wants to keep the glass table we got from my parents, and buy new chairs. Well new chairs from anywhere BUT Ikea, are going to be like $100 PER chair! We had a whole big argument in the middle of Value City furniture like 2 weeks ago over it, lol. For what it would cost to buy chairs from there, we could buy a whole dining room SET, lol.

That is so funny...and a lot like my hubby.

He has to sit with the idea of a big purchase for awhile before he can greenlight it. And to me, I am like, why the heck should we wait...if you are going to give-in in 3 months, just buy "it" now when I could use "it". But its just a thing he HAS to do before he can make a big purchase. Sometimes it is just analysis-paralysis.

It drives me nuts.

Gone ar ethe days of tax refunds, now that I am a SAHM I don't get anymore, and with our farm, we usually just break even or have to pay, You girls are so lucky!!

Have fun with your stuff

Wow- lucky girl!! :) How exciting!!

About the laptop....if you want to, send me a PM with your price range and I'll have DH virtually build you one. I'd have to check if he knows much about HPs and Vaios, we're Dell people. :) Would you consider a Dell? Let me know either way and I can ask him to give you some recommendations on the best things to get for the money you have to spend. He "built" my laptop from Dell and it's an absolute dream!

P.S. Have you tried JCPenney for chairs? We got an awesome dining table set from there last year. They have an outlet section too where you can sometimes get GREAT deals, especially when you're looking for just the table or just the chairs.

Wow, Col! That's AMAZING! I thought you were going to type that he led you into the garage where he had all the products waiting for you! LOL. Probably better you pick it all out yourself though. LOL.

I have had a Dell laptop and an HP and to be honest, my next laptop is going to be an Apple! I have had it with PCs :-)

Thanks for the offer T. Jordan's an IT guy, so I had him build me an HP and a Vaio tonight to look at. I'll probably buy one tomorrow, he wants to look into the HP's some more (he was distracted by the hockey game coming on soon, lol). Both my dad and Jordan are in computers and hate Dells, so that's kinda out. Bad experiences I suppose, I dunno.

I'll definitely look into JCP for chairs though. I hadn't really looked there for some reason, lol.

Great! Glad you have someone to build your new baby. :) I think maybe you mentioned that about the Dells in an earlier thread? I had a funny feeling you might have. LOL

My DH has been very distracted by hockey too.....the Caps are his team, so he's on pins and needles waiting to see if they make the play-offs. :)

That's SO funny, because Jordan is a HUGE Penguins fan. We actually were at the Caps vs Pens game a few weekends ago in DC! Lol!

I want your MIL and SIL lol.

And you know...sometimes what we say sounds like "blah, blah, blah" and they don't pay attention/actually listen and consider it until someone else says it.

Next time you need to buy anything...remember to invite the ILs over ;)

Yes, because more Penguins fans go to the Caps games than Caps fans!! :) I haven't been to any games this season, but they're fun to go to. My DH is "violently" discussing the Penguins/Caps right now in my ear after I told him you guys like them (his most hated team).....LOL He said I need to rub in tonight's 4-1 loss. :p

Yea that was really pathetic, lol. Jordan was NOT happy, lol.

Being from NY, I'm a Rangers fan first. But since Jordan's family is from Pittsburgh, and he loves all teams from there (even the Pirates, even though they are miserable), I figure I might as well root for them too since I have to hear about it regardless :p

I have an HP Pavillion Col and I've been really happy with it. I think it has 3 MB of RAM and 250 GB of hard drive space. I run a lot on it once (Outlook, PSCS3, and FTP Program, IE, and ACDSee) and it runs like a dream.

Vista is a PITA to get used to, but it's okay now that I'm used to it.

The only thing it isn't, is light. I have the BIG 19 inch monitor, so it's a bit heavy, but IMO it was worth the weight to have the larger monitor.

Thanks for the info Jaclyn.
I really want the HP with the 17" monitor, but Jordan sees no need for it. If anything, we'll get me a new monitor and hook it up to that down the road if it's necessary.

He configured an HP and a Sony Vaio last night. They both had 2GB of RAM and 15" screens. Jordan wants more RAM, but it's so expensive to add when you customize. He'd prefer the 4GB he said this morning, but that's another $200 or so from the 2GB. The 3GB is only $75 more on the HP so that might be worth it since you said you can run a whole mess at once wtih no problems. The Vaio has a 200GB HD and the HP has 160GB. I'm going to see if he thinks it's worth it to upgrade to the 250GB for another $80, cuz the HP would still be cheaper than the Vaio.

So yea, we'll see, lol. If anything, I'll upgrade as I feel necessary compared to what he sets up for me, lol! I figure I might as well get the most I can now (RAM and HD) since I don't plan on buying another computer for a LONG time.

ETA: He configured this HP - dv6700t, and this Vaio - FZ-4000. Well not technically that Vaio, but that one has the pretty cover :)

Col, my BIL's are into computers and I was told not to upgrade past 3GB of RAM anyway because a PC isn't able to know what to do with anything more than that - there won't be a noticable difference in speed of your computer.

I had an HP desktop and it SUCKED so bad. Now I've got a Dell and I've got some problems, but the problems aren't with the computer - the problems are with Windows. I hate Microsoft, so I'm getting a MacBook Pro in a few months. LOL!

Well now he built me this one dv9700t with 3GB RAM and 250GB HD. And it's got a better graphics card and a bigger screen than a comparable Vaio. So this one right now is the front runner :)

He hates that I have to get Vista. I'm sure it'll be a pain to get used to. But he hates Mac's as well, even though it might be good for me to switch. Maybe my next one will be a Mac. :p
