Got ACDSee 10!

OK, you girls convinced me! I bought and downloaded the upgrade to 10 yesterday. I installed it and unzipped some new things with it and then tagged them. Besides the unzipping and the preview it all seems the same - though maybe a bit faster. I'm trying to get used to using it to do ALL of my browsing. I usually end up with several explorer windows open when I am designing, so I'm not sure if I will ever be OK with having to browse back and forth for stuff - but I'm trying.

I forgot about the brushes preview thing - I need to browse to some brush files to see how that works...

click on the file and rt click Extract to Folder or click on Extract to Folder at the top

eta: if you have multiple folders going to the same folder you can select them all at once to unzip.

I unzipped my Gina Miller goodies in ACDSee last night, and it was great. Multiple unzips, and they unzip wherever you want them to.

Now...I'm about to go shopping LOL.

Oh, and how do you load the brushes into PS from ACDSee? Anyone know?

click on the abr file and either ctrl e for edit or rt click Open in Editor (assuming your default editor is set up to be PS) and when you go to PS your brushes should be loaded with the current brushes. they'll be at the bottom.

I'm saying this from memory so I hope I'm remembering correctly

Just found this thread an wondered how the tagging is going for everyone? :)

I recently got ACDSee and have been tagging for the last few weeks. I try to do at least 15 minutes a day. I wonder if I ever will get everything tagged (LOL!), but it feels soooo good for every new thing that gets tagged :)

I'm not good about tagging. I randomly tag here and there, but I'm definitely WAY behind on it, lol.

I'm hoping to get some stuff tagged this weekend.

All my individual element packs & kits (except for Jen Wilson, maybe, 'cause that is a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig folder) have been tagged. I have a few CDs/collections that I went through and deleted all the stuff I would never use, so there are a few things to tag there, too. Oh, and my very newest CT things sitting on my laptop HD have not been tagged yet.

Soo... abt 90% of my stash is tagged and organized.

I have a question about ACDSee. I have a laptop and a desktop at home and all of my digiscrapping stuff stored on an portable external hard drive. If I install ACDSee on both computers and tag everything in ACDSee on my laptop, is there some way to "copy" all of the tags from my laptop to my desktop? Or would I need to re-tag everything again on my desktop?

Helen

I think there might be a way to backup your database (which woul dbe all the tagged information) and then load it onto your desktop.

I mean, that's the purpose of backing up the database, so you have it if something goes wrong. I don't see why you couldn't do it between 2 computers.

I have just taken an ACDSee course and I'm pretty sure I was told there is a way. You have to have your digi kits on the external harddrive (which I assume you access from both laptop and desktop) and you have to have ACDSee installed on both computers...

Hang on...I'm going to dig around and see if I can find the info for you...

Here you go - I think this is what you need:

Lots of luck & hope that helps :)

That's how mine is. I'm sure Anso's link answered the questions... but basically you have your database stored on your EHD and ACDSee on both computers. I've never had any problems with mine this way! (and I have a vista laptop and XP computer!)

Hahaha, I don't tag. LOL.

I got part ways through my Amanda Heimann folder (when I had them organized alphabetically by designer) and that's as far as I got LOL
