I just noticed my new camera does not warn me that there is no memory card in it last night. How did I realize this? Well I was "taking pictures" of my dog and I go to view them when I was done and there was a no card in camera warning once I clicked the button to view. Im like really that couldnt flash as soon as I clicked the first time? LOL OK Im probably the only one who has ever done that but that is not the only mishap with my camera. I am looking through the viewfinder one day while I was out with my husband and I say to him "something is wrong with the camera. I cannot see anything. It is all dark" Oh yea that is when I realized I forgot to take off the lens cap. I have done that with my old camera too. So I cannot even say it is because I used a P&S that did not have a lens cap before switching to a DSLR. Just me being ditzy LOL. So how about you? Ever done these things? Any other funny mishaps with your cameras?

Yep, I have done both. Went away for the weekend with my memory card in my computer to a town that doesn't have a store so no way to buy a new one. I am also somehow always getting my camera stuck on timer and then having to spend time figuring out how to shut that off cause I don't actually use it so not sure how it gets stuck on it.

Guilty on both fronts. :-) I've been also known to take a camera for shooting and only discover that I forgot to put the card in when it was too late.

Luckily my camera, and my old one, always warned me there was no memory card in so I never took pictures then realised it wasn't there lol.

I never take mine out, I connect by cable to download them so the only time I see the memory card is when I buy a new camera and put my memory card in for the first time

There may be a setting on your camera that you can change to alert you when there's no memory card in the camera. That's how it is with my camera. It's worth taking a look at your manual to avoid any future mishaps (which I'm guilty of myself! ;)).

Me too. I bought a bigger memory card so that I don't have to take mine out. Though my son just told me he can't use his camera because he lost his memory card. Months ago, so prob no hope in us finding it. Grrrr teens.

LOL I've done something similar.

Back in '02, before I had a digital camera, I was on vacation in Washington State. We were on Whidbey Island (I think), and wow, we were walking around a lighthouse, and from our vantage point, wecould see a submarine being escorted out to sea. I took TONS of photos...well...I would have IF I had actually put the film IN the camera. I discovered this after the sub had passed by, of course. Thankfully a friend was with me and had taken pics with her camera as well...not the same shots I wanted, but better than nothing anyway.

If there is no card in my Rebel XT (over 5 years old) as soon as you turn it on the LCD screens says "No CF card" and stays there and I don't have "live view" on it so as soon as I put it up to my eye and it's still black I realize I've forgotten to take off the lens cap!!! :D :D

I did not notice it saying no card in mine (mine is a Canon 60D). I have liveview but do not use it very often but the time I thought something was wrong with the camera I was looking through the veiwfinder. It was black and I was like whats wrong with the camera? It is all black when I look through the view finder. Then I thought duh I put the lens cap back on LOL. It only took a few seconds to figure out but since I said all that to my husband he got to tease me about being such a blonde.

Oh and I forgot my card again today. Luckily I had an extra one in my bag!!
