I love this way of recording/keeping your kids art

I got rid of soooo much art from my desk today. My recycle bin is full. Elisa loves that she still has photos of all her creations, so after a while doesn't mind if I photograph them then throw them away. My girls do art almost every day, either at kindy/school, or at home, so I really needed a way to record it without the bulk.

I made the frame myself (first time - woohoo!). If you want it you can download the frame from 4shared here: Doodled frame

I would have minded a lot if I was a kid. Actually I would mind today. It's up to me to throw my things away.

But if it works for you, then it's ok.

I always ask the girls first. What they want to keep goes on their pinboard for a few months. The rest once recorded on a layout gets recycled.

Yup, in this way it's ok. I can imagine the heaps of art you'd otherwise had.

It's just that I have a different mindset, having been spoilt by my family never throwing any of my creations away (or maybe they just didn't tell me, because while there's a lot of my art, I don't think it can be virtually everything) - that's why it feels funny for me, but I when I think myself away from that, it's totally acceptable, LOL.

And I like the way you photograph and scrap the thrown-away art, way too cute.

That's an awesome idea! Luke's bulk is writing... I wonder if it'd be possible to do that with writing or if they'd be way too small to read... i may try it! Thanks!

Thanks for sharing!!! I have a TON of projects and this will be PERFECT!!! I'll let the boys keep their favorites, but a lot need to go into the recycling bin.

Good idea! I have been collecting the stuff meaning to do something with it. There is always so much!

I love this idea! The boys brought home their art folders last week and I've been trying to figure out what to do with all of it. I'm totally going to do this!

This is what I do with the boys also.

Oh gosh, I LOVE this idea! I have one of those HUGE plastic bins full of my DD's artwork that I know I'll eventually have to purge. This is a good solution!

Me too! I've been scanning them, not doing much with it beyond that, but I love the frames and captions! Great idea!

I saw something like this somewhere and loved it! My son is just now starting to bring home art and I wanted to do this. I actually took a photo of the adorable artwork he made me for mothers day.

I've been storing it in a box and periodically taking photos of everything to do something similar. I still keep a few originals from each year, too.

This is a great idea! One I'm definitely going to lift. I have sooo many of ds's artpieces. The ones he really wants to keep go on the fridge, on his corkboard, or in my office at work. The rest he doesn't care about, but I have had such a hard time letting go.

This will make it so much easier. TFS!

I LOVE this! thanks so much for sharing! I'm totally doing that! I wish I had an idea like this sooner because I throw away TONS!!! They just get so much! Hopefully I have enough saved to do something. I have kept all of my oldest's writing pages with pictures... so I'll have to do something like this with them!

I really like those collages, and I've made a page with some of my son's art, but I still can't throw it away! I keep everything!!!
