Circus?

We're thinking of taking DD to the Shrine Circus. I haven't been to the circus since I was about 5 maybe?

Do you think the circus would be fun for a 3 year old? It's not too pricey - just $12 an adult, she would be free. But it's an hour away, so I'd hate to have to leave if she thinks it's scary or boring or something. Has anybody been with their kids (to any circus) and did they like it?

we took my dd to the circus when she was 3 and she bawled. we stayed for about 10 min and had to leave. luckily it was only a few blocks from our house. she loved the animal part of it, but i think the whole clown thing really wigged her out and she did NOT like all the noise.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. From what I remember (not much), I remember it being very loud and lots of clowns (not a huge fan, lol). I remember an elephant, and motorbikes in a round cage - but that was SO loud - I needed to cover my ears! We'd also have to take Elora, who is just 2 months, so I'm thinking it might not be such a good scenario...

We went with our girls a few years ago (so they would have been close to that age) and they both loved it! Tons of animal stuff and lots of acrobat-like things. I don't remember any clowns at the one we went to. Well, they might have been clowns, but not with crazy wigs and make-up--just silly clothes and hairdos. Anyway, they enjoyed it!

I just took my kids to the Shrine Circus a few months ago. We got free tickets, and it wasn't far from our house. We ended up staying for about 30 minutes. My 6 yo son enjoyed it, but my 4 yo and 1 yo just weren't into it. They weren't scared, just bored.

I took my son at that age, the noise wasn't an issue, but that could be because its in a huge building here. He did poop out about half way through and we left at intermission.

We took our boys to the shriner's circus a few months ago and my kids did enjoy it but I wasnt impressed at all. I thought it was very corny and left feeling disappointed. I want to take my boys to the Ringling Bros circus when it comes back to town.

I'm taking my girls to an acrobat circus in two weeks actually. My girls are 4 and 7, and we've been taking them for the last couple of years. The circuses that visit here aren't the big huge productions you probably have. They're mostly acrobats, clowns, trapeze artists, etc - very few have animals these days, and definitely no motorbikes. My girls love it though. As long as the little one sits on our laps she's happy, because we can cuddle her when it gets too noisy or dark, or whatever. We only have to travel 15 minutes to get to the circus though.

We've only been to Ringling Bros. and the kids love it! My oldest was 2 or 3 the first time he went, my daughter went as a baby. The key for us when my oldest was little was to not sit too close to the action - he was afraid of everything... dark, loud noises, people in costumes, etc. but in the cheap seats he was totally happy.

We just went to the circus today and my son is 2 3/4. He is usually kinda sensitive to loud noises but he enjoyed the circus. He liked the motorbikes in a cage the best but he liked it, no fits or anything. There were no animals though, unless you count a big snake but there were performers and he watched them. I was surprised he did so well.
