I'm going on a CRUISE...need idea for St. John's!!

So I'm SO thrilled and lucky to be going on my third Disney cruise on March 15th aboard Disney's Magic! It's my first time on the Magic and first time on a 7-day cruise. We have the Eastern Caribbean itinerary that stops at Disney's island, Castaway Cay, St. Maarten and St. Thomas/St. John.

I would normally never ask for advice for a Disney vacation but I've never been to St. Maarten and St. Thomas. My boyfriend and I decided we definitely want to go to St. John from my St. Thomas but don't know what else to do there. I don't know what to do at St. Maarten too.

I'm not into snorkeling and I've been parasailng before, which I would do again but my boyfriend's afraid of heights so he won't participate. I want something fun we can do together. (And I don't really want to spend money/time to visit restaurants on the islands since we can eat on the ship without spending the extra money.)

Ideas?
 
i have not been there but when my hubby and i went on our honeymoon we went on a cruise and when we stopped at one of the islands we rented a cute little scooter and toured the island that way which was so much fun! it wasn't too pricey either. have a blast!!
 
No ideas for you since we didn't go there on our Disney cruise, but I'm excited for you and I'm jealous...three? Wow, you're so lucky!
 
Don't they have open air type markets? I could get lost in those for hours!
And the scooter thing sounds fun too!

I'm way jealous. When Jordan took me to florida, he told me he was thinking of going to Aruba. Good thing I got my ring otherwise I might've been disappointed :p
 
We went to the Eastern Caribbean 11 years ago this May and had a blast!!! In St. Thomas we went on an all-you-can-drink rum party boat in the morning and then spent the afternoon shopping downtown. We bought so much stuff because it was so cheap there! Perfume, jewelry, alcohol... :thumbup:

We are going on another cruise to the Southern Caribbean next April and I think I want to do the Tortola Dolphin Encounter http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/d...tyLevel=AllActivityLevel&Ages=AllActivityAges and then shop some more. Hmm, if Kenny Chesney hangs out there I think I know where I'm planning my next vacation!

I have no advice as I've never been on a cruise or to any of the islands but I too am in on the green with envy group! Have fun! Can't wait to see all your photos!
 
Well I know I would be doing nothing but sight-seeing and taking photographs. I have always wanted to go to the Caribbean and spend a few days soaking up the sun, laying in the sand and wading in the water.
If you go and The Dutchman is still at Castaway Cay, will you PLEASE take a picture for me? I would die to get so close to that thing.
You are sooooo lucky.
 
What FUN! I love snorkeling so that is what I would be doing! lol The scooter tour sounds like fun. I've never been there so I have no advice. You'll have to post pics when you get back! :)

Look familiar, Mandy? :-)

I saw it on my last cruise to Castaway Cay in October 2006. It's amazing! The back is not as ornate as the front. I guess they either built the backside digitally or always showed just one side of the ship.

I LOVE the photo of the Flying Dutchman in front of the cruise ship. So incredible!

Next time you go, you should totally write my name on a piece of paper and hold it up next to the Dutchman and take a photo. Really you should. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cuz that would be like...so cool. My name...close to the Dutchman.

Haha - Mandy, you're so cute!

I think you'd like my boyfriend's book (if you like Disney and the Pirates of the Caribbean ride). It's called "Pirates of the Caribbean: from the Magic Kingdom to the Movies". I've read it and I don't say this just to endulge him but it's really good! Again though, you have to be a Disney fan to appreciate it too. (And he doesn't get royalty's so I don't have a motive really for promoting the book other than it's a great read.)
