Cuz I just got back my 878 photos I sent away to scanmyphotos.com

I'm uploading to photobucket as we speak to show off the quality, and my cute lil baby self ;) :p

Needless to say, I'll be sending back many more boxes of photos to this company. I'm totally sold, and it only took a week to get them out to CA, scanned, and sent back!

I posted about this on DST about two-three months ago, and I'm THRILLED to see these from you! I was waiting to hear how your experience was. I hate scanning, and this seems a perfect solution. They came out great!

Wow! That's awesome! We have a huge box of antique photos from my dh's grandmother. I'm going to have to look into this!

Yea I'm really happy wtih how they came out. My mom only let me take a handful of the really old ones she had. She said if this box came back ok, then I could send all the rest out. So you know what I'll be doing everytime I go home now! LOL! Sorting through endless boxes of pictures, and stealing them from frames!

I'm dying to get my hands on both of my grandparents pictures. I really would love to look into and do a heritage album.

Wow! Those look great! How much did it cost?

I was WAY impatient, so my box wasn't nearly as full as it could've been.
I paid for the prepaid flat rate box which you can stuff as many photos as you can into. I only had 878 scanned, the site says the average is 1400, and Janet PHillips fit 2200 in hers, lol. That one is $99.99 (shipping included, they mail out the box to you and it's all taken care of, you just drop it off at the post office and pay for delivery confirmation or insurance or whatever extra you want).

They have a smaller option which is essentially you pack up a shoe box (from what I can tell anyway) and that's $50.

They look really great! I'm seriously going to talk my mom into doing this with me, because we have so many photos just sitting around that need to be scanned.

These look great! I would be so scared to send away photos tho!

Sara, my mom was really paranoid about it, so I only took a few pics here and there from each event. I paid extra for delivery confirmation and tracking. When they receive the box on their end, you are notified, and you are notified again when your order is complete and are given a new tracking number so you can follow your package back home.

As digi-girls, I really think it's worth the risk. Think of how many boxes of photos you probably have sitting in your house, and how long it would take to scan them on your own. That you'd probably end up with dust specks, etc. It takes this company like half an hour tops, to scan an entire box. It is received, processed, and sent back in the SAME DAY!

Even if you go through your boxes of pictures and take a few from each event, over the years that adds up! I went through 10 boxes and took MAYBE 5% out of any given box, probably less. And I still ended up with 878 photos to send! But the memories left in the boxes aren't incomplete either, so if the box was lost (god forbid) it wouldn't ruin everything, you know? Plus, think of how many more memories you could scrap!

thanks for posting . . . this makes me want to take out all my photos and box them up . . .

Has anyone tried ScanCafe? I was thinking of them b/c the scan at 600dpi and let you preview your images on the web first. But they are also more expensive . . .

Thanks for the info! GREAT to know! I really want to scan photos from YEARS ago too...even when my mom and dad were dating!

Definitely with you on the track and confirm :-)

That is one freaking huge rooster! LOL!

They look awesome Colleen!

What size photos do they do up to? I have an 11x14 photo I need restored (do they even do that)?

Looks great, TFS. I have tons of old pics as well, they'll probably fit in the $50 shoebox. I'm gonna look into it!

Well my dad is only like 2 there, so he's pretty small. But the rooster is still pretty dang big! LOL!

Pam you could do option 2, they scan up to 11x14 :)
Here's the link: Clicky!
