I wanna know: Do you wash your face every night?

I once read that every night that you go to bed without washing your face ages your skin 3 days. But just think, if you don't wash your face one night a week, at the end of the year, you aged an extra 156 days. In 10 years that adds up to like over four years older just for one night of laziness each week. Do you think that's true?

Anyway, I'm feeling uncertain about whether I want to get up and wash my face or whether I want to just put the laptop down, roll over and go to sleep. So let's take a poll.

I wash my face every night. No exceptions! I can't stand sleeping with my makeup on. Plus it gets all over my pillow if I do.

That's ridiculous. Sounds like a made up mom threat to get her kids to wash their faces. lol I actually can't wash my face very often or it dries my skin up and makes me breakout a lot. So, once a day AT MOST... and if I didn't wear makeup and didn't sweat, I don't wash it. My skin is so much better if I just rinse it in the shower instead of washing all the time.

I don't wash my face other than in the shower with water. If I use facewash I break out!! But I dont normally break out if I don't wash my face. Weird but true.

So.... you are saying that I look like I'm in my 40's??

I rarely wear makeup (unless I need to impress)... So I only wash in the shower or if I notice that I'm going through a time that my skin is oily or overly dry, then I'll do a mask thing.

Nope...just whenever I feel like it...most of them time I just wipe my face with a wet washcloth.

That being said, I only wear makeup once or twice a year...and never wear foundation/powder...when I did, I always washed it off before bed.

I wash my face every other night using Neutrogena face wash. If I wear makeup on a "non washing night" lol, I go ahead and wash with plain soap and water to remove the makeup before I sleep.

No. I wash it in the shower every morning and sometimes at night. Usually it's just a quick splash of water to get the "day dirt" off it. I only wear foundation and a setting powder, so it's not like I have a lot to wash off.

Ugh this has always been my dilemma! I have NEVER been a face washer at night (by the time I remember I am passing out on the pillow) and have gone to bed with a little makeup on (I do try to wash it off if I am wearing some but sometimes I forget).

But in the last year everything has changed with my skin. I never had bad acne as a teenager and even then didn't wash it all that much but in the shower. But in the last year I have had REALLY painful and annoying cystic acne, probably due to hormonal changes in my 30's. And so a few months ago I finally broke down and bought the Proactive stuff. And of course that stuff tells you to wash (and like four other steps) every night and morning. And coming from a never wash my face to this, it has been such a pain. I can tell somewhat when I don't follow it completely (breakouts) but at the same time, my skin kinda feels "burned" too in some areas. And now that the weather has turned cold here and all our skin is getting dry, my face is like flaking/pealing/super dry. So I don't want to use it. So I haven't in the last couple of days and I am putting on lotion like at least 4 times a day and it is still dry. I haven't had any breakouts in the last couple of days but I know it is coming and I'm not sure what I'm going to do.

So yeah...to get back to your OQ...I never really washed my face at night and I've always been told I look young for my age (two years ago I had a couple 20 somethings say I was in college!!!) so I don't believe in the addage but maybe the results don't show up until you cannot change anything (like in your 50's or 60's). I do know my Grandma always washes her face at night, and she looks pretty good for 90!

I have never been a night time face washer specifically. But I shower at night, and wash it in the shower, so does that count? If I don't shower, I don't wash it, so I don't think it counts.

Having said that, since coming off BCP a few months ago, my skin is a MESS. I know that I probably should be getting up in the morning and washing it, and doing it every night, but I'm having trouble adjusting my routine.

I only wash my face at night if I have been wearing make up. Otherwise my skin gets way too dry. I do wash my face in the shower in the morning, but I only shower every other day or so depending on when I get to the gyym

Just like brushing my teeth - twice a day. I wear makeup every day so I can't imagine not washing it off every night. Then I wash in the shower in the morning.

i wash my face in the morning and at night. i use cetaphil which is more like a lotion than a cleanser to clean my face. i have been bad lately about evening. i've been falling into bed most nights. i have to get back into my routine.

Oh, I did think of a time when I do wash my face at night regularly -- when I spend the day in a major city with air pollution. Or if I'm around cigarette smoke it makes me ill but then I will actually have to shower.

I use a face cleasing cloth every night, and wash with water & antibac facewash every morning. I have to clean my face before bed 'cos I ware makeup, plus it would just feel odd not too after so many years of routine, and all due to having such crappy skin as a teen.

I break out a lot, so I wash every single night. Some nights I feel lazy and then make myself feel guilty and will thus wash my face.

Make sure you watch that video link I sent ... washing your hair in the shower ... they say you must wash your face afterwards ... otherwise it ages your face ... ewwww

Wow, you all must have naturally amazing skin. No way could I get away not washing my face every day.

I wash my face twice a day - once after my shower and once before bed. I wear sunscreen and makeup pretty much every day so it would be weird to not wash my face before bed. There are days when I definitely feel lazy but since I wear contacts and have to take them out anyway, it's pretty rare that I would skip my bedtime routine.

Ugh, you and me both. My skin wasn't this bad even when I was a teen. Stupid hormones.

Yeah, I have to say, I'm a little shocked at the poll results.

OK, watched the video. I always wash my face in the shower after doing my hair, so I'm OK there, but I need to start moisturizing my neck! Ack!

I've never watched Dr. Oz before...huh. Who knew he was Vulcan?

I don't wash my face other than in the shower with water. If I use facewash I break out!! But I dont normally break out if I don't wash my face. Weird but true.

Ditto. I have tried every flippin face wash out there and have never found one that doesn't break me out. I take my eye make up off every night with make up remover cloths, but that's it.

Count me in as another that is surprised at the poll results. I wash mine every night, and every morning, religiously. My face would look like a pizza if I didn't. :D

I do wear makeup every day, and I like to have a nice clean face before bed. I never forget to wash it before bed. I also like to have a nice clean face to put my make up on. I use Neutrogena Deep Clean.
