Companies and release of information

So i went up to my old job and asked them to release information about my termination of employement. Basically they need to sign a paper that says i dont work there anymore. They said they cant sign anything in store that it has to go though the main office. Im so irritated!!!! There was a store, district, and territory manager in the store. Are you telling me not one of them coulda signed a little piece of paper???

Am i over reacting?? Anyone a manager can tell me if this is normal??

My hubby is a district manager for a large video company and if he fires an employee he signs a paper right then and he can/could give you a copy if you came in and asked for it. But if you were bringing in a paper that need signed (say to get benefits continued:cobra or to get unemployment) then he couldn't sign it....you would have to send it to home office and get it signed (through human resources) and them mailed back out to you.

Ugh ive only ran a private business we never had problems with these kinda things

Honestly i guess im more mad about the fact shes been gone for 10 days and left no one in charge to help me.

i was layed off and i received a letter that day even though i worked a few more days afterwards...they should be able to provide you with something that as of a certain date you are longer employed with their company...
