My little cat almost got evicted this morning!

I'm so upset. My short-haired cat, Whiskey, has been known to be an imp, a goof. But never really rebellious. But lately, he's been having "accidents" around the house and DH just isn't going to put up with it much longer.

I think that the dog's been chasing him around the house and stressing him out, but I just don't know. It's not like he's peeing on our bed, clothes or anything...this morning he peed on his kitty condo, where he eats his food and rests at times. Why on earth would he do that? I don't think he's sick with a UTI because he's having no problem peeing, trust me.

Any ideas of what's going on? How can I get him to stop this behaviour? He's a sweet little guy so I really don't want to lose him, but DH is at the end of his rope. Help?

Is he fixed? That could be spraying to mark his territory which if the dog is chasing him would make sense. There is a spray you can buy at most pet stores to not only get rid of the smell and any stain but also deter him from spraying anything else.

You still might want to take him to the vet and get him checked out just to be safe. I've never known a cat to pee like that unless they are either ill or they a have dirty litterbox, and I'd be willing to bet it's not the litterbox.

It could be a UTI. Our cat started doing that after being in the house for years (and he was fixed). We took him to the vet and he had a UTI so they put him on meds for a short time and had us change his food to a special food for cats with UTI's. Since then he has stopped peeing in the house - thank goodness!!!

This would happen from time to time with my kitties too.

His litter was just changed from clay-based to corn-based...wonder if that upset him. He's fixed, so it can't be that. I think a vet visit is in order then just to see what's up. Maybe he needs a different food or something.

Thanks for your ideas.

I was just about to ask if you changed his litter or the location of his litter box. Changing the kitty litter and UTIs are 2 big reasons cats stop using the litter box ;) Change it back to what it was and see if the behavior stops. However, I'd still get him checked at the vet :)
