Did you know that when Sesame Street started out Oscar the Grouch was a yellowish orange color?!! I had no idea!

My boyfriend (who is a little older than me so the Old School ones are from when he was little) and I are watching one of the Sesame Street Old School DVDs and Oscar's not green!! I'm shocked!!

lol I had to go find him..

I wonder why they changed him.... I also wonder WHY you are watching sesame street :D :D

LOL...that is AWESOME that you went to find him!!! We're watching b/c my nostalgic boyfriend wanted the Old School Vol. 1 & 2 DVDs for Christmas...so I got them for him. And we're watching...it's too funny. We're singing along to Ernie's Rubber Duckie song...

HAAA! That's GREAT! I don't remember Oscar being anything but green. How bizarre.

Rubber duckie... you're the one... you make bath time lots of fun...

Guess they needed to use all of the yellow on Big Bird and didn't have enough for Oscar. I agree with Traci...he looks much better green.... :)

Rubber Duckie I am awfully fond of YOU!
We love Sesame Street here, I don't remember him being anything but green either, but my hubby has watched those DVD's and he told me "I know that" when I asked him if he knew.
He also watches old episodes of School House Rocks!

Actually, in the beginning of S. St. Big Bird was different too! His voice was different and his head was 1/4 the size of what everyone knows it as! Just to give you a time frame of the years we're talking about Jason was born in '70 and I was born in '83. Elmo wasn't around when I was born either but Jason keeps saying "I hate that Elmo...he's a loud mouth!" LOL. I think him and Zoe are kind of cute but it's hilarious to hear Jason get all pissy about the newer characters!

That is just crazy! He has to be green.......forever! I don't think my psyche can handle a different Oscar. He was my favorite on Sesame Street

Does anyone remember when Snuffy was only Big Bird's imaginary friend and no one but BB could see him? Now he's just another character, but he started out as just an imaginary friend. :)

Please don't think I'm weird, but Oscar was one of my favorites. My all time favorite is Grover!! Perhaps they changed Oscar to green because he lived in a trash can? LOL

Oops. I didn't mean to upset anyone. My twisted sense of humor strikes again. I just say that because for the longest time I couldn't figure out if Big Bird was a boy or girl and finally came to the consensus that s/he's both.:p

LOL, Its OK Karrina...I still love ya LOTS!
My last name is Grover and that is what everyone calls my hubby so we have lots of little stuffed Grovers around this house...

LOL I don't think you upset anyone. I thought it was hilarious for the very same reasons. LOL

Thats it Im strange! Could never get into Sesame Street even as a child! I tried again with my DDs in their early years - just didmt get it!!
I remember a Sat morning program here called Hey Hey Its Saturday - It was such a huge hit with kids and parents they moved it to Saturday night so the big kids could join in the fun!
I did see Sesame Street Live when they toured (free tickets!) and I actually enjoyed that more than the TV program! Go figure! Give me Mr Bean over Big Bird anyday (I already know my a, b, zeds!!)
