As I'm trying to go gluten-free and DH has been told to reduce his "white" foods (sugar levels), we've had to alter what our go to foods are.
What used to be in the list:
Salami-spinachicotta Rigatoni
Pasta with homemade sauce and sausage
Stir fry with rice (any meat)
Pork or chicken with pierogies
Kielbasa, apples and onions with a "sweet & sour" mustard sauce and couscous
Any of the Bertolli meals (except the shrimp ones)
Chicken & pasta carbonara
Roasted chicken (from the store) with rice and veggies
Now, I'm making a lot of risotto, substituting brown rice where I can and we are trying to substitute: couscous gets substituted with polenta, testing out whole grain brown rice pasta. And turkey chili with added cannelini beans is now a good mal for us. We're still learning and adjusting, so our go-tos are changing/evolving. At least the stir-fry is still a great go-to.
