question for those who have transitions lenses in their glasses

I have two pairs of glasses which have the Tranistion lenses and when I go outside they get really super dark but then when I come back in they do not transition back to inside lights well. It takes awhile and it makes it kinda hard to see inside. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem with them?

I'm an optician (in case you're wondering why I know this)...

They take longer to go back to normal when you go inside...it's a 'normal' occurance with them.

really? dang. I have been inside for like 15 minutes and there is still a slight tint to them. I really noticed a big difference going from the outside to the inside of a store yesterday. They never transitioned back to clear while in the store then when I am in the car they do not transition at all which is kinda a pain because the sun can be really bright year round here in Florida that is why I opted for the transition lenses so I would not need a seperate pair of sunglasses

Hmm, if they are really bad you may want to mention it or ask your eye doctor's office. 15 minutes sounds kind of long to me, but what do I know, really!

They probably won't transition very much when you're in the car b/c the windows all have UV protection in them.

the whole in the car not transitioning thing is the reason my hubby returned his transition lensed glasses... the CS person we talked to said it's the number 1 reason people don't like the transition lenses. It's because you're not actually in the sun plus the windshield has some tint to it already so your lenses don't think they need to transition.

Weird. I LOVE my transitions! I won't have a pair of glasses w/out them now! DH also wears them as do my parents & my inlaws. None of us have ever had any problems with them.

My mother returned hers as well. After about three months they just stopped going back to 'clear' altogether. We took Devin's back because they didn't get dark enough (he's got extreme photosensitivity and NEEDS super dark lenses when he's outside.)

I've had mine now for 2 years and HATE them....HATE

I didn't spend the $$ on new glasses last time b/c my rx barely changed. I wear my contacts 90% of the time anyways so it wasn't worth it..my next pair will not have transition on them.

Mine take forever to go back to regular clear lenses lol

I've had mine for 3 years and have never had any problems. Although I don't need to wear them all the time to see, like when I go inside buildings after being outside (I can't drive without them, or see far away when outside walking, etc). Maybe 5 minutes at most to change back to normal.
When I go back to get new glasses (hopefully this year, since I put it off last year), I am hoping to get another pair with transition lenses. I have had clip-ons in the past and kept loosing them, and I hate carrying around a second pair of glasses to switch from regular glasses to sunglasses.

We love love love love (did I say love?) our transitions ... 4 out of 4 of us have them in the family...bummer is this year's eye insurance is NOT going to pay for the transition lens ... and they did in years past.

Yeah, from what I remember working w/ patients is that you either like them or hate em. There isn't really an in between.

I dont exactly dislike them. I mean I like how they work in the bright sun but I wish the transition between dark/light was faster because they get dark really fast but going back to clear seems to take alot longer. I also wish they worked inside the car better...but having to switch back and forth between sunglasses and regular glasses is no fun. I also have to wear my glasses all the time because my vision is REALLY BAD!!!! LOL I can see vague shapes and colors with no glasses. (when taking the vision test I cannot even see the biggest letter on the eye chart without glasses)

I will never, ever buy them because, honestly, I think they look ridiculous. When I see people walking around inside with those half-tinted lenses, they look so silly to me. Plus it seems like it takes forever. It would drive me nuts.

LOL see that is what I was wondering because some people looked at me weird when I was walking through walmart and my glasses were still almost black. Thats why I wish they changed quicker so I dont look like an idiot walking through a store with sunglasses on.

Yeah...I hated mine years ago and swore I would never get them again...and haven't! I went and got Lasik instead (a little bit more expensive lol) but now I'm needing glasses again. Now if I got glasses, I'd have to have them so I could read with them too. I'm fighting it as hard as I can!!
