Holy Moly.......**1st Post Updated**

I think the board just blew out on my computer. Now I have to use DD #3's cheesy little bitty notebook. I am nstalling PSE on it now but, I don't have ANY of the new templates, etc. that I have downloaded since Friday cuz I didn't back up my EHD since then. Ugh! So frustrating! I just want to cry.
I sure hope the IT guy at my DH's work can get the stuff off of it still. :(

ETA: DH emailed and said the laptop is coming home WORKING!!!! IT guy said it has an internal overload that shuts it down and resets itself after a period of time. So, it was the "shock" from DH that sent it over the edge! LOL....

I am just so happy I didn't lose it or anything on it! Yay! So happy now!!!:thumbup:

Ugh....I am just sitting here thinking of all of the passwords and links that are in that puter that I have been HORRIBLE about making sure I have saved elsewhere. Such a PITA. :(

That is always my fear, because I save logins and password in Firefox... what if I lose them and have no idea what they are?!? LOL!

If you use xmarks (which I love), it will sync your passwords for you. So if you get a new computer or whatever, red/l the xmarks addon, and your bookmarks and passwords are back :)

I hope you get your stuff back NeeNee!!
 
Most stores leave links active for a week or so, and you get more than 1 chance to download. So you should be able to get your new stuff onto the other lappy. :)
 
By board, do you mean the motherboard is fried? Because if that's the case, your files on your hard drive are likely fine. Unless you did something really really bad...like caused smoke to come out the computer. :D
 
Well, it's the weirdest thing Nettio.....

I moved my lappy to a folding table in the LR so we could do family movie night and I could scrap...:p
The table is old and has a metal edge. DH got up and touched the edge of the table and he must have created some friction on the carpet cuz it shocked him and then my lappy just went BLACK. Won't turn on, no lights come on, nothing. We called the IT guy, said it would be totally bizarre for that shock from his finger to fry my puter. But, that would be WAY too weird of a coincidence. We tried the other power cord we have that is from DD #1's lappy cuz it's the same, took the battery in and out, even swapped them. Mine just won't do anything.....

Thank you so much for reminding me of that Col. I will go and get the things I am missing now.

And thanks for that tip Sara! I am going to check into that first thing in the morning.
 
Oh yuck! So upsetting. I remember when my lappy fried. Same thing happened...just went black. But mine was the hard drive. Hopefully your hard drive is okay and you can get your stuff. I was too stupid to have backed stuff up to my EHD before it happened.

Hope you can get everything back.
 
Oh shivers, NeeNee! :blink: I feel your pain, as you know I was in a similar situation 2 days ago :thumbdown: Let's hope your hard disk is untouched and fine!

That IS really weird!! I guess that's why they caution about static electricity when you work on computers, but I wouldn't have thought it would happen like that. Hopefully your lappy can be saved. :(
 
yeah if its just the Mother board you can totally take out the hard drive and get anything and everything off of it. Hopefully your IT guy can take care of ya.
