So this morning...

It was -28 outside my house! (-18.4 Farenheit according to Google) That is damn cold! The gear stick on my car was completely frozen, and I had to sit there with my foot on the clutch, waiting for it to defrost.

All I wanted to do was curl up on the sofa with a blanket, a hot fire and a mocha, but no such luck - I had to go to work, and my office is freezing:thumbdown: I miss summer.

It is freezing here too! 26 this morning.........in FLORIDA!!! I just cannot handle this much longer. I want my normal mild Florida winter to come back. They're even saying we may get a few snow flurries tomorrow. My kids would LOVE that, but I'm ready for some relief.

yikes that is cold I cannot imagine that kind of cold

it's freezing here too...15 degrees right now and it's supposed to get colder tomorrow and Friday..our forecast is iffy...hopefully snow, but maybe ice. I really really really don't want ice..the last ice storm we had was about 15 years ago and it was horrible. no power for 5 days...at least we have gas logs if the power goes out so we won't freeze...if that happens we'll probably haul a mattress into the living room and all camp out in there. I really don't want to do that..I want snow! :)

-28?! That's insane!

I hate the cold, but I deal with it ok. I just bundle up like an eskimo and keep my head down, lol. Jordan laughs at me, but such is life. We're sitting at 29 right now, feels like 20 with the wind. I hate the wind. The wind makes everything 849302 times worse.

whoa!!! thats cold!! i don't think we've had the temp go quite that low here in Indiana but it has been in the negatives. my poor car hates the cold. i have to let it warm up. then again, i don't like to immediately get up and get going either :D

it says here its 12F but feels like 3F. i must be getting used to it cause it didnt feel that bad when i put the dogs on the chain this morning, lol.

oh, the wind definitely makes it worse! i can tolerate the cold better if there's no wind.

I feel your pain. I have 9 inches of snow in my garden today, December was the coldest and this winter the worst since records began here in the UK. Luckily I got a call this morning at 7:15 to say that the school I teach in was closed which was really lucky as I had my coat and boots on ready to leave right then to walk to work. So I am having a snow day but this is what my world looks like

Nobody can get in or out, a few of the neighbours tried but had to reverse back down the street so the menfolk have busied themselves with digging tracks up the road for when we are able to get up.

it's -24C here (-11F) this morning too ... feels the same as you though, -27 w/ the windchill. I hate the cold.

We had an ice storm in February 2002 ... we lost power for 12 hours ... luckily we had some firewood (now I have gas logs) ... our floor plan on the main level has no doors ... so we hung blankets in the doorway of the family room (small room) and the fireplace kept us toasty. Ran hot water in the bathroom to try to take a bit of chill off the room. We were lucky that we only lost it for 12 hours ... houses that were just across the cross street from us lost it for 2-3 weeks!!!

I remember doing the "Survivor" challenge during the storm ... I was still paper scrapping back then and we had to do a major amount of scrapping each week. I opened up the curtains, set up my scrapping on the air hockey table, and put candles at my elbows to give me more light. Is that dedicated or what? I ended up winning the 6 week (I think it was) challenge too!

We are expecting 3-5" of snow by tonight. I am TOTALLY AMAZED that our school district canceled school for today because it wasn't supposed to start until after noon (now they say later after school would be out). Our school district usually doesn't cancel unless there is a lot of ice. Must be a new man on the school cancellation board this year. lol It's ok though ... it's just one class my one son is missing...gives us a full day to homeschool though...sorry kids class is NOT cancelled due to snow. Only way it is...is if we lose power and the laptop batteries run out (their schoolwork is on the computer) ... and even then... we do have reading and electronics to work on. I'm no fun ... I can hear it now.

I can't even imagine being that cold! Even here, we broke a record for the lowest temp but -28? eeek!

It's miserable here too. This weekend when I woke up it was -30 F. It hasn't been above zero since New Year's Eve ... and that day it was only 3 above or something crazy like that. We're in a winter storm warning again, and the wind chill could be 50 degrees below zero tomorrow night ........ INSANE! I'm sick of it!

I celebrated christmas in the UK (SO is British, and I used to live there), and it was complete chaos from the snow! I asked the car rental people if I could have snow tires on the car, and they looked at me like I was crazy. I've never been that scared of driving!

All my nephews in the UK have had the day off from school too. That never happens here - which is good, or the school would have to be closed all winter!

We don't normally get it this bad so our whole country isn't prepared and set up like other countries who get stacks of snow and really cold temperatures.

It's fun for a while but the fun side of it is wearing thin now and I'm fed up of being snowed in.

I cannot imagine what -26 feels like

That is just nuts.

I am sitting here shivering and it is only 45F outside. The cold blast won't hit us until tomorrow morning. I can't imagine how cold I will be when it is 19 degrees. I did go out and buy a heated throw for when I am sitting at the desk.

Ummm... try the -40 (-50 with windchill) that we get for a few weeks each winter... lol.

I'm just dreaming of a few days of warm -10 so we can get in some good outdoor playing, I need some Winter photos of my DD... lol.

The keys to dealing with the cold- plug your car in (you don't live in Canada without a block heater in your car), start it at least 30 minutes before you plan on going anywhere, and dress in layers (as many as you can walk in.... lol).

Sharon, SM canceled b/c of the temps and kids waiting at the bus stop, not b/c of the snow. :)

I'm not all that amused by Friday's temps, frankly.

Well, we are at 36F...highest we've been in weeks, or at least feels like it. But that lovely Arctic front is on its way, and around this evening's rush hour, the snow is supposed to start and temps are supposed to get in the teens. Temps of 3F this weekend, and that lovely Oklahoma wind (you know, the one that goes sweeping down the plain...) We've been told to expect wind chills around -20.

You're all freaks who live above the 35th Parallel :P

I hate winter. Just hate it. I hate to be cold. I can't even imagine living in the climes where you get -anything most of the time during winter. I'm sitting here freezing and it's just 40F (but it took awhile to get that hi this morning), waiting for the front to hit this evening...knowing I'm going to be a miserable toad with windchills around 0 - for us that's REALLY REALLY cold.

Sonja, why do you live in Canada if you hate the cold? LOL!

uh, cause I was born here, my parents were born here, half my grandparents were born here .... you know how it goes. And where would I move to besides here? I am Canadian, eh?

Oh, and cause summer isn't HOT like you guys South of here.

lasst night around midnight I went outside and there was ice on the yard and on the cars windsheild and roof of the car. For Florida that is cold. Tonight they are calling for 27 degrees as a low. Again really cold for Florida!!

Ditto Sonja! Wouldn`t live anywhere else, even IF I hate the cold!

Funny though, our average low so far this winter is like -2 or something. LOL We`ve had a couple of -12 days but lately it`s been above zero! (talking in Celcius) I think we might have 1 or 2 inches on the ground but that`s it. Every time it snows, it rains within a day or two so it goes away!

I used to be a wimp on anything that was under 10 degrees... then my family went to Russia.. in December!!!! Yeah... that was cold! It was about -35 when we went! Awful!!!
We'd go through the spinning doors of the hotel, and once you breathe in, you can feel your nose, throat, eyes, everything freeze. literally. Yeah, it was bad!

Luckily we've had weather in the 20s, and it's usually bitter cold here this time of year. I'm thankful it's not too bad yet!

It was about 70 degrees here this afternoon. We went to the outdoor market and bought some fresh local veggies and fruit, and I honestly did think of all of you gals that live in those super cold climates, and I know you'll all tell me that you love living there because you have real seasons and I do not.....

but I don't care!!! I was wearing jeans, a t-shirt and flip flops....in JANUARY!! I was loving every minute of it!

and I would send you all some of this gorgeous weather if I could! :D

Yep, we are getting it too! Tonight it is supposed to a low of -17. It's Nebraska people. It shouldn't get that cold! Oh yeah, and we have about 15 inches of snow on the ground before today, and it snowed another 4 inches and now we have 30-40 mile an hour winds. The windchill tonight is supposed to be -40. I feel like I'm living in the arctic region or something. I'm ready for spring! :)

Debra...I was wearing flip-flops a few days ago but it is sooo cold here now!! The thing is though I would totally move away in a second if I could get enough money to buy a new house. When house prices skyocketed here in Orlando like two years ago I tried to talk my husband into selling and moving to someplace like Tennessee or West Virginia but he said no lets wait a little while more until we pay the place off completely so all the money goes to us. Well we paid it off and now prices plummetted. He said to me the other day he wishes now we would have sold when I wanted to and just moved away

omg,i didnt realise people can survive in temperatures like -28degrees! I seriously wouldnt. i would curl up in a ball and die. Gosh, its probably +28 degrees celsius here today and that is cold in my book! That being said, i am an aussie and live in the middle of Sydney. Ive only seen snow once......and i had to drive a good few hours to get there...

It's not easy in my book. I did live in Alaska for 7 years, so I have experienced cold! I grew up on the beach in California though, so I only saw snow a few times in my younger years when we would take a trip up to the snow. It's weird because you really have to learn how to dress for the cold. I don't think I ever figured it out while I was up there. I still wanted to dress like I was in California.
