Quick! What's the fastest/easiest way to prep LOs for books?

I think I have a toolkit from somewhere that checks for bleed, etc. But what do you do to get ready? I have them all saved as TIFFs except the ones I lost when my EHD died. I scrap as is at 12x12 but will print 8x8 or 8.5x8.5 depending on where I print.

I decided to go ahead and get my layouts printed and start the new album next year doing 2 layouts that go together (either a two-pager, two separate layouts using the same kit or whatever to compliment each other and flow better).

Trying to take advantage of the sales while I can (I have some free books at Artscow, but I was sad to see when my calendars came they must have had a vivid pic option I didn't turn off...oh well... anyway, it made me realize how much I like having layouts (even bright ones) in print!
 
uh oh...my artscow calendars are in the mail on their way to me right now...I hope mine aren't vivid,too!!

One suggestion I have...
I created an action that saves for web and saves for print all from one click of a button. Perhaps you could create an action to autmatically size to 12x12 and 8x8 or what ever other standard sizes you use...that way you already have them ready and waiting in a "to be printed" file the minute you see a sale! Just select the folder with the size you want (and get rid of or archive the others once you've printed them).
 
That reminds me that I still have to finish the calendars! :p I won't be able to get them printed by next week, that is when inlaws are flying back home. Sigh, I am sooo not organized!
 
Anyone? Right now I'm going through my old TIFFs and laying a viovio bleed checker guide over the top, then saving as a JPG (at a 10-Maximum)... anything else I should do?
 
I usually make Shutterfly books and use an action by Wendyzine to prep my layouts. On one book I felt lazy and just resized some pages down to 8x8. Will not do that again. Wendy's action resizes everything and extends the background and then lets you make other adjustments as necessary.
 
that sounds about right stephanie!

i don't know which process is quicker, but I usually resize my layouts to 8.5x8.5... then resize the canvas to 8.75x8.75 and extend the background (I use viovio). but using the bleed template would accomplish the same thing.

so in the future, if you know what size you want to print at (a lot of companies now resize to whatever you want so you could just leave 12x12)... save a "to print" file once you finish the layout. it saves so much time when you're ready to print everything!
 
My Artscow calenders look great.

When I print, I just get a white 8x8 background, resize my LOs to 7.5x7.5 and paste on top. I print at Artscow and get a small white border on the bottom of my LO only when I do that. Its not fast though.
 
I just resize to 8.5x8.5 using the batch resize option with ACDSee. Quick and simple, you can do them all at once, I make a folder to put them in and just upload from there.
 
Thanks ladies! I do have some Wendyzine actions or something, but didn't want to take the tme to figure it out and install again... so I just spent FOREVER going trhough them and putting the viovio bleed and cutoff guide over top, linking all layers but the background and shrinking them or moving them a bit if important "stuff" would get cut off.

From now on, I will scrap with printing in mind! :)
 
I must be completely confused because I cannot upload more than 1 pixture at a time at Viovio and I am lost at shutterfly :( so I guess i will just wait and see if I can figure it out this weekend...
 
digiscrapinfo has a step by step process walking you through viovio that is very very helpful! they say zip up a bunch of layouts and upload the zipped files, then you can get them all at once!
